What are your hobbies?

As the title, what hobbies do you have whether they’re old, new, solo, clubs etc?

I’m in my 30s with one baby and would love to have a hobby/ hobbies to do in the little free time I do have and need some inspiration. I have been into fitness in the past and loved dancing when I was younger but a lot of the classes around me aren’t aimed at adults. I haven’t been able to exercise much since having a baby and during pregnancy, I will definitely be getting back into this but I’m aware it will be a long and slow process.

Would love to hear what you all enjoy whether it’s home based, fitness, crafts - anything and everything!

reading, knitting, journalling, gardening, history podcasts and books, watching cricket, and I go for a walk every day - but that's more because I know I should!

mellongoose · 15/03/2026 06:41

Running, yoga (not as much as I’d like) , sea swimming (too much rain/run off this winter), starting my veggie garden, helping DD with horse.

Would like to be active in the evening… I tend to eat and then sit, which is not healthy!!

Chasingsquirrels · 15/03/2026 06:49

Bridge
Reading
Gardening

Currently getting into fitness, am halfway through a 12 week gym programme tied in with my (now completed) breast cancer treatment and have surprised myself with how much I am enjoying it. Plan to continue the strength training and am doing daily cardio.

RaraRachael · 15/03/2026 06:58

Reading and walking.

I also play the cello but there's nowhere I can join to do this.

@ForAmusedHazelQuoter the cinema is a hobby! I would count it too, I go all the time as I have an unlimited card. I love it.

I have a six year old son. I play in a very high standard amateur orchestra and am re-learning the piano.

HushTheNoise · 15/03/2026 16:33

Playing in an amateur orchestra, sewing, Pilates, going for walks with friends ( just short ones in the local area, to catch up instead going to a coffee shop).

Roselily123 · 15/03/2026 17:00

Reading, Walking and Gardening.
same as from being 16.
I’ve managed to do all 3 today Grin

RaraRachael · 15/03/2026 17:16

@Piglet89 and @HushTheNoise I went to join an "amateur" orchestra - no auditions necessary. I'm G7 but the music was far too hard. There were people in it who'd played in professional orchestras all over the world and one guy had been a professor of violin.

I never went back 😪

EssieEssieEssieOyOyOy · 15/03/2026 17:21

I make 1:144th scale miniatures, do cross stitch and embroidery, hand spinning, rag rugging, i make flower filled resin pieces, knit (badly) quilling...

Basically my hobby is crafting rather than a specific type of craft.

@RaraRachael- most amateur orchestras (in London at least) ask for Grade 8 as standard in lieu of an audition. To play most repertoire you need to be a good sight reader and I also need to do a bit of private practice between rehearsals to bring myself up to scratch.

Sorry your experience was so off putting.

Mermaidsareforlife · 15/03/2026 17:57

Camping, diamond art, creative journaling, card making, crochet, cross stitch, punch needle, all badly but its for my mental wellbeing so who cares... colouring, watercolour and scrapbooking.
Walking & yoga but need to do more ....

Mermaidsareforlife · 15/03/2026 18:00

Forgot reading, buying boardgames & playing them

youbizarrehorse · 15/03/2026 18:01

Knitting and crochet.

UniquePinkSwan · 15/03/2026 18:11

Gaming and reading.

RaraRachael · 15/03/2026 18:22

@Piglet89 I'm in rural Scotland so didn't think I'd be out of my depth especially as the organiser .made it sound like it was open to everyone.

Since Covid there has been a big influx of people to this area so I think the locals have been outclassed. It's a pity as there were quite a few of us who just wanted to play for enjoyment.

Swissmeringue · 15/03/2026 21:18

Figure skating, this one was on hold for the baby years but I get to train once a week now as it's my oldest's hobby too
Gym
Paddleboarding and cycling but I'm fairweather for both, so only really do them in the summer
Does the PTFA count as a hobby?! 😂🤦‍♀️

@RaraRachael could you ask the organiser if they know of any other suitable ones. Sometimes billed as community orchestra or rusty strings/ wind groups. Or if you could get some lessons to build confidence and technique. Orchestra is honestly my favourite but if the week but as the orchestra has improved, I definitely have to work more at it. It's worth it though.
