Random question re leaking Air Up bottle

DS has a fairly new (couple of months old) Air Up bottle, below.

It has started leaking through the little mini sipper valve in the side and I can't see why? I bought new valves but they are the same, and I can't work out how the water is meant to not come out through it? If not upright the lid fills with water.

Any ideas?

I don't think they're meant to be kept on their side, the hole in the straw is how they work.

Email them
Their customer service is pretty good.
We've lost a few lids of the older style bottles and they replaced and sent a few pods along too.

We also smashed a plastic bottle from a height and got a good discount on a new bottle (we replaced ourselves with stainless steel when it happened a second time and realised it was actually user error)

I second emailing them. We had an issue with a smashed lid and their customer service has been fantastic. As a sidenote without the lid the bottle was leaking mad so regarding your issue it might just be the way it is. They are designed to be upright.
