Any hairdressers around tonight? I need your opinion. Right or wrong?

I have half head of food every 12 weeks. I get a toner every 6 weeks. This time the toner has only lasted a couple weeks before the hair looks brassy. Co pilot told me use a good Chelating shampoo once a week and a yellow fix purple shampoo once per weeks. I bought one bottle of each good brands and it’s really worked. Hair looks great.

mentioned this at my book club last night and one of the girls who is a hairdresser working from home salon told me I was ruining my hair. She said I would dry it out and it would be like straw. She seemed really floored that I thought this was ok. Is this something I’m doing wrong. Do hairdressers hate purple shampoo??I use conditioner every wash, am I ruining my hair???

All advice welcome

Why do you believe her, if the actual empiric evidence says otherwise?

My hairdresser told me to use purple shampoo once a week so this hairdresser is not the voice of all hairdressers!

I use purple shampoo/conditioner once a week ( I use the violet stuff from Lush..it's gorgeous). My hair is thick, healthy, not dried out...and I blow dry it and sometimes run the GHDs through.

The chelating shampoo might be a different matter though. it is designed to strip the hair of product buildup so I can see that that might be a bit harsh for regular use.

Thank you both. I live in a particularly hard water area I think that’s the theory behind the chelating shampoo once per week. I’d like a nice purple shampoo
so I’ll check out the Lush one. Thank you. X
