Help me find the perfect bed…

Want to replace both bed and mattress but cannot find the right bed! Please help… I’m looking for:

  • super king
  • ottoman
  • a tall headboard
  • here’s the kicker… needs to be white. Actual white, not off white that will look dirty under white bedding. Seems hard to find in fabric, there are some in wood but not with tall headboards…

Does anyone have the holy grail?

also where is good to actually try mattresses these days? Willing to spend up to 2k but it has to be perfect. 10 years ago I found an amazing one in John Lewis but went for a cheaper option as was poorer then!

Ikea

We bought a new mattress a couple of years ago, I did lots of research, ended up with one from John Lewis which cost £2K which I thought very extravagant but would be worth it. Really it’s been a disappointment, it’s a bit too squishy and it weighs a ton so just changing the sheets is hard work lifting the corners to get the fitted sheets on. Turning and rotating it is a nightmare with DH and I really struggling.

Anyway we:stayed at an Airbnb last year, the MOST comfortable bed, it was bliss, we both slept so well. I looked at the mattress - IKEA. Costs around £500 for king size.

I have since changed both daughters beds and put Ikea mattress es on. DD1 lives in London so I sleep in her room from time to time and so much prefer the mattress on her bed. DD2 came home to live for a while after finishing uni and we did her room up and bought a new bed as well as mattress from Ikea. She loves it. It’s a very pure white and looks lovely and fresh. They’ve got a good selection so take a look.

Which IKEA mattresses have you bought?

Another vote for ikea for mattresses. I have the VÅGSTRANDA on my bed and the VALEVÅG on my spare bed.
both are incredibly comfortable and have lasted well. I sleep in both beds due to working shifts and rooms being quieter at different times.
I like that you can go in store and try them out and also that they come packed for easy handling. I managed to manhandle the vagstrada in superking into the car myself and also managed to get it up the stairs by myself only because it was rolled and vacuum packed.

i cant recommend anywhere for a true white bed frame I had to give up my search and I ended up changing the colour scheme of the whole room as there are no white upholstered bed and I didn’t want wooden/metal!

i wouldn’t recommend the ikea malm bed frame. I lost count of the amount of times I stubbed my toes or walked onto the corner due to the large lip round the side of the bed. It is incredibly sturdy and it did survive 2 house moves. But I was glad to sell it on!
