If you have DH, tween DC, work FT .. is it too much for a friend to expect to see you every Fri or Sat night ?

would welcome thoughts. I think it is too much.

How often does everyone else see friends ?

No way, that's way too much socialising.

WorstPaceScenario · 12/03/2026 09:49

I have 3 teen/adult DCs and a DH, and even if I didn't have them I wouldn't be committing every single Friday or Saturday evening to the same friend.

CocoaTea · 12/03/2026 09:50

Impossible. And unrealistic.

BestZebbie · 12/03/2026 09:52

I think it depends - if you do a hobby together which has the meetings once a week on a Friday evening, fine (but bear in mind that when your tween is a teen they might need a taxi service on fridays/saturdays a lot more!).

If they just want you to go to the pub with them and chat rather than staying home with your DH/children and chatting to them, too much.

Did you post about this before, OP?

As ever, her expectations are irrelevant. The only behaviour you can control here is your own.

If what she’s proposing doesn’t suit you, just say no. I mean, I socialise a lot, and will always be out at least one weekend night, but I wouldn’t want to see the same friend every weekend.

OverheardBreakup · 12/03/2026 09:53

Wayyyy too much! EVERY Friday or Saturday night? Who is this demanding friend with high expectations?

Even without kids that’s a bit unreasonable

Denim4ever · 12/03/2026 09:53

Too much, especially at weekends. I don't mind seeing friends for an evening Friday or Saturday about once a month but more would be cutting into family time.

GrandHighPoohbah · 12/03/2026 09:53

I wouldn't want it to be a commitment as such, that would definitely be too much. I don't think it's realistic to expect the same friend to either want or be able to meet every single week.

marcyhermit · 12/03/2026 09:54

I go out maybe once or twice a month and that's to see all my friends, not just one!

Starlight1979 · 12/03/2026 10:18

I don't have any friends (with or without kids) that I see even once a month, never mind once a week.
