Anyone else sick of wrap dresses?

I think I’ve come to hate them now. They’re just annoying and they never stay put. They’re touted as a solution to everything but they’re not.

I have never liked them. Even when I see them advertised I feel like I can see the problems on the model.

They are 'flattering' in that they make anyone look lumpy.

I don’t like them either. I think I like the idea of them, or I did way back in the day. The Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses in the 70s looked very sexy but I don’t think they’ve aged well.

They do. Pouchy bust then mum tum.

I never liked them, they always gape on me. I think any wrap thing only works if you have small shoulders (I’m built like a rugby player)

Wishitwas1996 · 11/03/2026 18:04

Are they still a thing?

I’ve never been able to wear a genuine wrap dress so probably haven’t been paying attention.

AsparagusSeason · 11/03/2026 18:04

I last wore a wrap dress in the early 2000s.

Dabralor · 11/03/2026 18:06

God yes I am so bored of them as a concept.

Whatwouldnanado · 11/03/2026 18:06

There are wrap dresses and wrap dresses. Love a Boden drapey jersey job with a proper wide loop/tie arrangement that stays put. They save me having to have things taken in. Flimsy viscoise ones with bits of string type ties are awful.

Calliopespa · 11/03/2026 18:07

I also think they tend to cling in an unflattering way around the backside and hips, so that people end up with a slight SpongeBob Squarepants shape.

Yes, that horrible clingy fabric they all seem to be made of!

They scream ‘please nobody look at me or notice me in any way’.

I wore the shit out of them 20 years ago, not sure why now! I actually had no idea they were still a thing.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 11/03/2026 18:18

They remain the go to suggestion for anyone with big boobs and, as someone in that category, I absolutely hate them. I think that they’re unflattering and, if anything, make boobs look bigger.

ginasevern · 11/03/2026 18:24

They never suited me in the 70's and they sure as hell don't now, and that includes wrap over tops. They always gape and cling to you and are just so unflattering. A pox on them all I say.
