What would you want me to buy your toddler for Easter?

So I’ve got an outfit already and would like something else to go with it. He is 16-17 months now. Very close friends little boy.

I know I could do chocolate with it but he will likely get enough of this and I’d like something a little different but perhaps still Easter themed.

any ideas? I’m not a parent so would love to know what you’d actually like to get?

Some sensory egg shakers are a nice Easter gift for a child this age.

Or a wind up rabbit / chick that hops along. Sell them in the supermarkets.

Id not be giving my 16 month old chocolate, albeit would enjoy receiving it so I could eat it myself.

Bumblingbee92 · 11/03/2026 12:48

Stickers!
or bubbles.
garden chalk for outside?

Peonies12 · 11/03/2026 12:48

Nothing? I've never heard of buying Easter presents apart from chocolate eggs which I wouldn't want for my toddler. I wouldn't want an outfit they'd wear for 1 day then I have to store or sell.

Absolutely nothing, honestly! It’s so, so sweet of you and you sound like a great friend but small children have plenty enough stuff, generally. An outfit is more than enough.

Ilovechristmasfalalalalalala · 11/03/2026 13:07

How about a book or a colouring book and crayons? Bubbles and chalk are a good shout too.
An outfit is more than enough though.

Honestly, this.

BareGrylls · 11/03/2026 13:10

Are Easter presents a thing now? A child of 16 months isn't interested in clothes so that's a present for your friend really.

Pascha · 11/03/2026 13:12

Something to be used and not kept. Bubbles is perfect.

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 11/03/2026 13:15

Depends on your budget. As a PP said, egg shaped shakers? If you have a bigger budget a wooden animal on a stick to push around, or on a string to pull behind? A bunny would be ideal. Or a book, lift the flap or those with a tab they can push with their finger to make the flowers grow or whatever.

Sprogonthetyne · 11/03/2026 13:15

DS got these 'hide & squeak eggs' for their first easter, and they were well played with, though I wouldn't actually expect a friend to give my DC anything.

A book, That’s not my bunny etc.

NobodysChildNow · 11/03/2026 13:16

My mum bought my ds a little bucket for collecting flowers and eggs - we still have it and use it each year

SJM1988 · 11/03/2026 13:17

Stickers, colouring book or teddy.
Something to use up or that can be brought out every year - my mum got DD a massive bunny teddy which comes out every easter now and is sort of a tradition.

lemoncurdcupcake · 11/03/2026 13:25

I'm with @Peonies12 and @Iocanepowder! I find the amount of stuff involved with kids overwhelming, and am trying desperately to stop with additional gifts for things like easter! Respect that people are increasingly switched onto the fact you might be limiting things like chocolate and sweets, but does that have to be replaced with something? Presence is worth more than presents in my eyes.

However if you absolutely have to take something, a friends MIL always arrives with fresh berries or fruit when she goes to visit the grandkids and they blooming love it. Seriously, she brings so much joy with something as simple as a punnet of strawberries or some ready chopped mango or pineapple. It's super cute :)

An Easter egg. I wouldn't expect toys or clothes or anything else. If you wanted to buy them something for Easter I genuinely would expect it to be an Easter egg and if you didn't want to do that I wouldnt expect you to get anything at all.

MouseCheese87 · 11/03/2026 13:30

A small egg. I wouldn't get into the trap of buying and being expected to buy proper gifts for Easter. Save that for his birthday and Christmas. I wouldn't say clothes and toys are expected for Easter.

LysistrataSusanCarter · 11/03/2026 13:36

Lots of posters will say just an egg, and no more. And that of course is absolutely fine. However, I have bought my three-year-old niece a bunny basket for our Easter egg hunt(I’d put some crayons and a colouring book inside), a Peter Rabbit Easter egg, a Sylvanian Families bunny family (which will be the first in an extensive collection I intend to acquire for her) and a little bunny cardigan.

I have also bought my mother-in-law a Le Creuset ceramic bunny pie vent, so I might be beyond hope.

I’ve got four great lumbering teen who just want a KitKat easter egg each and so I’m making the very most of having a three-year-old in my life again 🤷‍♀️

OneHangryReader · 11/03/2026 13:36

Something for the garden at this time of year - little bucket and toy trowel/ garden chair/football.

Or stick with a book - lots of options out there for spring/Easter themes, my LO always loves Spot the dog books and I think there's an Easter one.

Lovely idea to get an Easter gift. Our DD was born in autumn so for us it's a nice opportunity to get her something that seasonally wouldn't make sense to buy for her bday or Xmas.

Am805463 · 11/03/2026 13:45

If you want to get something, how about a book? I was always happy to add to our book collection!

Frumpitydoo · 11/03/2026 13:46

Any Easter Lego Duplo sets about?

tealandteal · 11/03/2026 14:24

My 3yo loves his Stick Man Easter book, we read it all year round. So a book is always good but for friends children I try to get stuff they don’t have to keep in their house forever, so crafting/colouring/stickers that they can get rid of once they are done.

OneFootAfterTheOther · 11/03/2026 14:34

Sticker book.

DappledThings · 11/03/2026 14:36

Nothing. Easter isn't a present giving occassion and I'd find it a bit imposing if you decided it was.

goz · 11/03/2026 14:38

I always go for the Tomy eggs for a child who’s too young for an egg!
Toddlers always love them, it’s a toy with a good amount of longevity and there’s a little nod to Easter still.

Good thing it’s not a gift for you then. No need to feel imposed on.
