deleting WhatsApp messages

I sent a WhatsApp message to somone today and then decided it was a bad idea. I went back online an hour later and decided to delete it. It had one tick only and their "last seen" was before the time I had sent my message. I pressed "delete for everyone".
I am hoping they wont receive it now and I am also hoping , as it showed 1 grey tick only, that they too wont receive 'this message was deleted."
I dont want them to msg me and ask why I deleted the message etc etc
Does anyone know what will happen/what they will see?

It looks like they won't/haven't seen the message but will see your deletion message.

I usually pass it off as "oops sorry-that was meant for my sister" sort of thing

who is the person? work or not work?

ok thx.
I thought if u press 'delete for everyone' on a "1 tick" msg , they wont even receive 'this message was deleted'.

They will get a message deleted notification. As PP said just pass it off as oops sent to wrong recipient

It makes me so annoyed that if you delete a message it tells everyone message deleted ! Why tell everyone when it’s bloody obvious you didn’t want them to see you had sent it in the first place! WhatsApp sort it out

My WhatsApp messages pop up on my home screen so I can actually read them without opening the actual WhatsApp app! So it depends on what phone they have and if they had it near them when the message was sent.

Yeah this. I read everything in the notification preview. So chances are they know what you sent!
