Is it better to sell on eBay or vinted?

I’ve got a few good quality/good brand clothes to sell - small ladies size. Which is the best place to sell? I’ve never really sold clothes online before but DD had a big clear out.

They're both kind of crap in their own individual ways. eBay changed everything a while ago and now if you don't sign up to their 'promotion' or 'advertising' your stuff is way down the searches. People are reporting sales down 75% since they introduced this nonsense.
Vinted is just a scammers paradise isn't it? I've never tried it but read enough on here to have that impression.

Both awful, wouldn't bother unless they're worth a bit. Ebay changed to be more like Vinted but went even further downhill after that.

heartsinvisiblefury · 10/03/2026 14:50

Vinted is so bad now they’ve changed the sizes

Whowhatwerewolf · 10/03/2026 14:51

Vinted is totally fine. I sell on there quite frequently and it's easy and not a scammer's paradise at all.

Oceangrey · 10/03/2026 14:53

I'm listing on both as it's pretty quick once you've taken photos etc. Sales are probably split evenly. Vinted rewards you for listing as often as possible, so you can beat that in mind. eBay might be better if you want to list all at once.

Vinted this week I got harassed by a reseller demanding I accept his offers (he paid full price in the end and will resell it for over double, judging by his current stock).

I also got told off for not responding to a low offer. So I blocked her. 😁

Ebay is where I sell anything I don’t mind taking a while to move, or anything actually branded/valuable as I feel I have a lot more control over the settings and processes.

Nosejobnelly · 12/03/2026 10:55

Neither sounds great! I'm not in a rush to sell particularly. I just want to list all the clothes at once but not in a bundle. In the past I sold on FB marketplace but that was a bit of a bunfight!

I find that eBay is better for higher end items, while Vinted is better for shifting cheaper stuff that you just want rid of.

I get better prices on eBay, although things can take longer to sell. On Vinted people want everything at rock bottom prices and there is no way to turn ‘offers’ off, so you end up getting spammed with loads of ridiculous low ball offers.

BelleEpoque27 · 12/03/2026 11:13

Vinted is fine, you just won't get much money. It's good for a clear out. Haven't encountered any scammers yet (but I wouldn't spend more than about £20 and steer clear of obvious risky things like trainers).

I occasionally use eBay for something higher value, but there's far less traffic and it might sit around for months.

I’ve never had an issue with Vinted. I tend to sell mid-price high street stuff (Cos/Arket/Sezane) and it has a good resale price. I find it much quicker and easier to sell than eBay. I describe and photograph it accurately and had never had a complaint. I’ve made £1500 with barely any effort at all.

fedupandtired1 · 12/03/2026 11:43

I sell a lot more on vinted than eBay , I’ve been scammed once but vinted were expert about it and gave me a full flee fund for the item I sent

SparklyGlitterballs · 12/03/2026 11:46

Lots of scammers on Vinted and very little protection for the sellers. Follow one of the FB pages dedicated to Vinted scammers to see how rife it is, and what people get up to. I think it's ok for small, inexpensive stuff, but I'd never sell anything on there that's worth a bit of money.

AnnaQuayRules · 12/03/2026 11:47

I buy loads on Vinted but have never sold on it. Im thinking of doing so as I've got loads of clothes to shift because I've lost lots of weight.

bittertwisted · 12/03/2026 11:47

Never sell expensive stuff on Vinted. It is rife with buyers who claim imaginary faults and then Vinted let them keep the item and the money
it happened to me and thousands of other people on a Facebook group
i wlll never sell on there again

Friendlygingercat · 12/03/2026 11:55

Ive sold on Ebay (the US site) since 2000. I wont sell on Vinted because its UK only and the prices are too low. I prefer to sell international.

One platform I will not touch is Etsy. There have been so many sellers banned for spurious reasons and the rules are not applied across the board. Too many snitches.

And I won't buy on Etsy because 90% of 'Handmade' is made by factories in Guangzhou and/or counterfeit.

Thanks PPs for the warnings about selling anything of value on Vinted, I've just removed a handbag. I've a long history of selling on ebay and the times buyers have tried to scam me the customer service has almost always come through.

Roundofapause · 12/03/2026 12:52

I did not get on with selling on Ebay much. Gave up in the end. Vinted I much prefer and I'm on a roll with selling at the minute! My vote is Vinted.
