How long do you think you could you deal being handcuffed to a person the complete opppsite to you?

Watching a programme on channel 4 where people are handcuffed together who are meant to be their polar opposites.

Im not really sure what kind of person id be handcuffed to but seeing some people last less than a day i feel i could last a few days at least.

Not even a second.

I think it depends i guess i can only talk from my POV so it wont be the peoples but they had a self identified prude paired with a gay porn star but apart from that thry seemed to get on so it felt like that should be easy compared to others like it seems theyve got a racist with a black guy which would be an awful experience

I dont know what the complete opposite to me is. How do they decide that on the programme? A devoutly religious male farmer from say Chile maybe?

Im sure I could put up with it for a while. But could they?

HonestGreenShaker · 09/03/2026 23:24

I would last just stay silent 😂

NervyWegovy · 09/03/2026 23:26

I should add that the ones who last the longest get 50k each

It would depend. Completely different interests/beliefs/lifestyle I think id find quite interesting.
A nasty or spiteful or uncomfortable person to be around wouldnt last long at all.

HonestGreenShaker · 09/03/2026 23:27

What's the show called I need to watch it

halftermhalfawake · 09/03/2026 23:27

We're divorced now. Sooo.... about 12 years.

I would hope that they have got the OK from the black man before pairing like that, and if so (if hes comfortable with the situation) then hopefully it will actually change the racists viewpoints.
I think most racism is learnt from childhood and then continues into adulthood as they dont actually get to know people of different races to challenge what theyve grown up thinking.

I will be clear its total car crash TV and i actually think from how it looks its abhorrent as they know they are gonna be with someone completely opposite to you but it seems they start in the next episode and he finds what looks like a BBC article saying that hes an independent politician who was rejected by farage for being too racist

My initial thought before I watched was that I’d handcuff to anyone for 50k, no problem.
But I have to admit there is no way on earth I could tolerate the woman with 7kids. Not for any money!

Its called Handcuffed.

I think keeping them handcuffed in bed is a bit much. Not being able to turn over, I wouldn't sleep so would be exhausted, and therefore really grumpy all day. I wouldn't last more than 1 night, whoever I was with.

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 09/03/2026 23:42

32 seconds…

Not2identifying · 09/03/2026 23:44

It was the thought of going to the loo while handcuffed to someone that made me realise I'd have to seek my fortune elsewhere.

Why, do they have to look after the children? 😂
I havent watched it, but presuming its the multiple dads and on benefits stereotype? Is she really that bad? Theres a few mums like that at our DCs school and they're nice women still despite different life choices.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 10/03/2026 00:27

I don't know if anyone is truly opposite to anyone else. Different values, lifestyles, political views maybe but there is usually something in common too. in this case a willingness to go on reality TV. I quite like talking to different people so I wouldn't mind it but ironically the one type of person I can't abide is people who want to be on TV

Rayqueen2026 · 10/03/2026 00:34

The old guy what a temper and for someone rich what attitudes he didn't last long

Icamehomelikeastone · 10/03/2026 01:27

I'm finding the programme quite stressful, it's mostly contained high pressure scenarios so far. One observation is that some contestants are wearing one shoulder or off the shoulder tops, some even cutting their clothes. Then others are in full tops etc. How are they getting their clothes on? And why are some being made to cut their clothes? Surely if they are allowing some to dress without the handcuffs then they should be allowing them all the same courtesy

No , nothing to do with that at all. I was just describing her as I couldn’t remember her name. She has ADHD and is compelled to fill every moment with noise. Her handcuffed partner is struggling with finding peace, I’d be the same.

user7538796538 · 10/03/2026 10:25

For 50k i think you’d both just have to promise to keep silent? I reckon I could if I needed the money…wouldn't make good viewing though!
Hate exploitative TV like this though, we’re not far off the Hunger Games!

Bluegreenbird · 10/03/2026 10:31

Don’t know anything about this and yes I agree there are probably all sorts of exceptions being made behind the scenes.
Theoretically I think I’d be fine. Cameras are rolling so not too much harm could be done and am very easy going. I suppose that doesn’t make me the opposite of anyone then..hmm. I probably wouldn’t make the cut.
