Social security- appointee?

Has anyone had them out to the house for a meeting about being their child’s appointee when they turn 16?

I’m just wondering what happens and why it takes around an hour and a half?

I had one come round for my son when he turned 16. My son said he would like to manage his own money but he changed his mind when the man explained he would need to make phone calls and sort things out.
Just as well really as my DS has no concept of what money is worth and will not speak on the phone at all.
It lasted about half an hour.

Thank you, there is no way DD could manage money, she doesn’t understand that she couldn’t though. I don’t really know to manage the appointment as atm she says she isn’t going to come into the room. She is situational mute anyway so even if she does come in she almost certainly wouldn’t talk anyway.
