It ain't nothing but a heart-breaker
(War) Friend only to The Undertaker
(Edwin Starr 1970, written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong)

Unless, of course, your name ends in Trump, when it ain't nothing but an opportunity to grift, deflect and destroy.

Highly convenient the threat is against a blue state eh?

Silicon Valley, targetting Amazon, Google, Microsoft

Except it hasn't been, really, at least not among "people like Trump": they assume it is all faked, as Alex Jones has told them, and persecute the parents of the victims, and the survivors. Which of the repulsive female Trumpalikes was it who chased a Parkland survivor down the street heckling him? MTG?

Yeah, I mean we see some variation of it time and time again and it makes no difference to them. As the revered Charlie Kirk said, it's the price we pay for the second amendment. Sorry about your kids, folks. Thoughts and prayers.

Oh great! That's all we need! And should it happen you can bet Scrotus will withhold FEMA (what's left of it) assistance.

Oh, via our local news. Trump gave a speech and said among other insults (re Newsom's dyslexia) “I don’t want someone with cognitive problems as president”.

Newsom’s reply: “He’s talking about himself in the 3rd person again”.

MsJinks · 12/03/2026 03:28

He’s got around to Jesse Jackson’s funeral and his favourite topic of slating Obama. Apparently, all Jackson’s family stormed out in disgust at Obama bringing politics into the funeral - spoiler they didn’t.

The whole debacle is so utterly depressing.

I thought that Iran would collapse immediately and am as unprepared as the American administration for the Iranian defense/fightback.

Do we think it was prepared and thought through long since?

Also, wouldn't Israel have all that intel? I mean, they seem to have very precise information on so much in the region, a plan like this would be in their remit surely?

RedTagAlan · 12/03/2026 06:50

"We have hit them harder than virtually any country in history has been hit."

MsJinks · 12/03/2026 07:37

I originally assumed it was Netanyahu leading the US into Iran but from reading/looking around seems it might have been Trump’s idea and lead - maybe because no leader in the world, whatever their motivations, is as mad as trump and would consider the very things he doesn’t and so Israel might have known Iran wasn’t for a quick win.

However, Netanyahu does seem to have pretty free rein in Lebanon and who knows wha is happening in Gaza so it is probably of benefit to him whether deliberately planned with the US or just by hanging on their coat tails.

I’m not sure of Iran’s capacity for this but there’s thought they’ve planned the possibility for a long time so do have some contingency plans and capacity to wear down the opposition.

I don’t know enough about anything here so I don’t why it started or how it will end, maybe future history students can view it clearly.

But for now, for me, it is depressing for the world and scary.

" (Trump) has said again that the war will end "soon," whenever he decides it should, as Iran says it's ready for "a long-term war of attrition that will destroy the entire American economy."

Jaw-Dropping Scale of Troops Wounded by Trump’s War Is Leaked

Scores of U.S. soldiers were gravely injured—but the Pentagon has not been upfront about it.

Further proof, were it needed, that Trump has absolutely no idea what he’s doing.

We saw another fighter jet over Cyprus on our beach walk this morning. That was nice.

UYN · 12/03/2026 08:46

Trump is really deluded isn't he?

You can't kill the supreme leader of a theocracy then expect to just walk away when you feel like it.

He has started something which cannot be stopped.

U.S. Plan to Unblock Strait of Hormuz Collides With Realities of Global Insurance

This U.S.-centric insurance idea runs counter to the realities of an international market, according to industry executives

U.S. officials called London insurers and brokers, trying to figure out how the market operates, industry insiders said. Some have received calls asking for confidential data on the Lloyd’s market that participants have been reluctant to share.

Life goes on in the ME, from my sources on the ground:

DXB:
We were not allowed out of the terminal and had to go to a shelter area, which was just a bit of rope . Obviously the drones etc use GPS for targeting so they are jamming and disrupting the GPS signal. Taxi drivers complain as the GPS location is linked to their job and sometimes it shows them in the sea.

Kuwait:
Now residential buildings and banks are being targeted. We have thunderstorms and an earthquake 3.5 yesterday. It’s all happening over here,

He has never played minesweeper on windows then ? It's always the last ones that get me.

On a serious note, some sailors missing. But the orange tosser won't care about them.

Just more suckers and losers.

YankTank · 12/03/2026 11:28

MsJinks · 11/03/2026 18:42

Can’t he lead the way - show the sailors and insurance companies how safe it is and also how much grit he has? I’m sure someone could find him a gold boat to sail down the strait, and if it ends up more like his own river Styx so be it- think he’s traversed Lethe a while ago!

I heard that people with bone spurs shouldn’t ride in boats. Otherwise he 100% would.

Igotjelly · 11/03/2026 19:11

Issue is that they’re not the ‘type’ of children that people like Trump care about. If this was a nice western school full of white children the response would be incredibly different but ‘we’ are happy to other poor brown Muslim girls.

Exactly. These are the “type” of children that MAGATs gleefully cheer on whilst being detained by ICE.

He is a very weird shade of orange today

That’s because it’s March—time to transition from his Cuprinol winter shade to his Cuprinol summer shade.

Major Kong comes to mind. But instead of a bomb, he could ride one of these supersonic torpedoes Iran claims, to ride around the gulf on.

From the CNN feed just now:

"Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Thursday that the US Navy is currently unable to escort commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, though he suggested that capability could be in place later this month.
“It’ll happen relatively soon, but it can’t happen now. We’re simply not ready,” Wright said during an interview with CNBC when asked whether the US Navy could escort a tanker through the strait.
The energy secretary explained that US military resources are currently focused elsewhere amid the war in Iran.
“All of our military assets right now are focused on destroying Iran’s offensive capabilities and the manufacturing industry that supplies their offensive capabilities,” he added.
When pressed on whether the Navy could begin escorting ships through the strait by the end of the month, Wright indicated that was likely. “I think, yes,” he answered. “I think that is quite likely the case.”
Wright suggested that preparations are already underway, saying, “that is that is what the military is working on.”"

Always the same. Trump makes a declaration on his "Truth". Nothing happens, nobody knows anything beyond the "Truth", then somebody else walks it back.

TheABC · 12/03/2026 13:17

The longer I observe the US political system, the more I appreciate our own in the UK
It's bizarre, imperfect and has a lot of problems, but there's also more opportunities to take out a meglonanic minister. Johnson comes to mind - he was able to lie through his teeth, prerogue parliament, indulge in corruption and saddle us with some truly awful legislation. However, when the party turned on him, he had to go.

Trump appears untouchable and the GOP are irrelevant. I can't imagine any Prime Minister ordering the forces to war and ducking Parliament on the issue.

A statue depicting Trump and Jeffrey Epstein embracing in a “Titanic” pose similar to Jack and Rose appeared on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., this week.

The 12-foot statue was unveiled by The Secret Handshake group, a group of citizens using art and humor to prompt political discourse.
