It ain't nothing but a heart-breaker

Unless, of course, your name ends in Trump, when it ain't nothing but an opportunity to grift, deflect and destroy.

Here it is.

I wouldn't believe that any more than I would believe anything coming out of Trump & Hegseth's mouths. Between AI, disinformation, misinformation and the fact everyone involved is a liar and/or a criminal, it's really hard to know what to believe.

Ah yes, the Trump administration who are warriors for free speech.

Who travel to other countries to make speeches criticising their hosts for supposed lack of free speech.

The Trump administration that was co-run last year by Mr Elon "some of the things that I say will be incorrect" Musk.

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/12/politics/some-of-the-things-that-i-say-will-be-incorrect-musk-backs-away-from-false-claim-of-usd50-million-for-gaza-condoms
“So, nobody’s going to bat a thousand. I mean, any – you know, we will make mistakes, but we’ll act quickly to correct any mistakes.”
This correction was not particularly quick. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s claim that President Donald Trump had thwarted $50 million in condom funding for Gaza made headlines around the world in late January. Trump kept repeating the story, and inflating the figure, even after media outlets reported it was highly unlikely to be true.

From their actions, it's been clear this administration & hangers-on believe it's OK to say untrue things, and if someone doesn't like it that person can publish the truth themselves or sue (when the untruth tellers own the communication channels and the court system is less accessible to the non-wealthy).

But dear me, turns out this administration DOESN'T believe that after all! No no.

THEY are allowed to tell untruths: intentionally or unintentionally, corrected or uncorrected.

No one else is: even if corrected.

And interestingly, CNN just put this on it's feed:

"Some “chosen influencers” continue to have access despite a clampdown on most users by the state, the watchdog said.
Doug Madory, who studies internet disruptions, told CNN a “whitelisting system appears to allow limited access for select users while blocking the broader population.”
Iranian authorities said Friday they had arrested a 37-year-old for offering unfettered internet access through a Starlink device in Fars Province, according to state-supported media outlet ISNA. Starlink, Elon Musk’s company that offers internet via an array of satellites, has provided one way for Iranians to speak to the outside world.
While the Iranian regime’s clampdown is mostly to blame for the huge reduction in internet traffic, Madory suggests that US-Israeli strikes could also be causing disruption, potentially resulting in “failures in shared infrastructure such as fiber cuts or power outages.”"

So Musk's starlink is being used by the Iranian Government to it's own advantage.

That's the same as the Government where I am with world social media. Anything that makes it onto youtube etc is approved and controlled. They employ shills to make vids etc about the place, that their own population is banned from seeing.

CNN:

"President Donald Trump said Saturday he is not prepared to reach a deal with Iran to end the war, while declining to say what terms would be acceptable to him.
“Iran wants to make a deal, and I don’t want to make it because the terms aren’t good enough yet,” Trump told NBC News during a phone interview, adding that any agreement would need to be “very solid.”
When asked what those terms might include, the president declined to provide details. “I don’t want to say that to you,” he said.
Trump also raised doubts about the status of Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, noting that he has not appeared publicly since assuming power.
“I don’t know if he’s even alive. So far, nobody’s been able to show him,” Trump said.
“I’m hearing he’s not alive, and if he is, he should do something very smart for his country, and that’s surrender,” the president added, then describing reports of Khamenei’s death as “a rumor.”
Trump declined to name a specific Iranian figure he would support as a future leader, saying only, “We have people that are living that would be great leaders for the future of the country.”
The president also addressed his decision to temporarily ease some sanctions on Russia’s oil sector as global energy prices surge.
“I want to have oil for the world. I want to have oil,” Trump said, adding that the sanctions, originally imposed after Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, would “go back as soon as the crisis is over.”
Asked about potential assistance in the conflict from Ukraine, Trump said the “last person we need help from is Volodymyr Zelensky.”
The Ukrainian president previously offered to help the US repel Iranian drones, using his military’s experience fending off Russian drones. Zelensky said Tuesday that Ukraine was sending teams to Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to share their knowledge."

Baffles me.

It is Trump who is phoning these news networks to give interviews. I am certain he is looking for ideas. He is hoping the networks give him a name of a potential leader, then the next interview he will be dropping the name in.

I am certain if a journalist asked him about the mothballed Iowa class battleships, it would be in his very next "Truth".

I think this, by Heather Delaney Reese, from a bit earlier today Cyprus time, may relate to the above. Horrifying stuff, though only what we have come to expect from the demented lunatic who’s been put in charge of the asylum for at least his own life-time, if not longer.

He has no limits or boundaries. He won't be happy until he is the richest person in the world and then he will start thinking there must be aliens with more money and he has to be the richest being in the universe.
Also the wealthier you are the greater the need to protect yourself from the all the poor people who might come after your wealth, so you need more wealth to buy things to protect yourself.

Well, yes, or those of the schoolgirls or Renee Good or Alex Pretti or the others. It's a vile, murderous regime, and it was clear from day 1 that's not only what it would be, but what they were setting out to be. I mean, I watched the Hegseth confirmation hearing and he basically raised his hand and said, I'm a stupid, murderous thug and plan to ignore every basic rule of engagement.

And here we go, people all over the UK and Europe, desperate to lap up more of the same.

I don't put it past them in any ethical or moral sense. Human life and suffering is clearly something they're very happy to disregard, but I think it would have been too risky operationally. 1mm different and how happy we all would have been.

Propaganda, being shared in Kuwait right now after a day of heavy bombardment.
It's an example of playing to its base, as Kuwait has a large Iranian population, and also to influence native Kuwaitis.

The Iraqi invasion wasn't that long ago and Kuwait has a large US base for Iran to target, so Iran is looking to turn support for the US.

Japan and South Korea have not given an enthusiastic response to Trump's call for help. I'm awaiting Srarmer's response with interest.

From The Times:
UK vulnerable to retaliation if ships sent to Strait
Iran could retaliate against the UK if it sent ships to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry said.
Esmail Baghaei told Times Radio that if Britain heeded President Trump’s call for warships, it would amount to “complicity in the crime of aggression”.
“That would for sure be responded by Iran,” he said. “That’s why we think every responsible nation should avoid becoming part of this act of aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran.”
Baghaei added: “We are not at war with the UK, but … any participation in this war would be regarded as participating in the United States-Israel war of aggression against Iran.”

The other thing I've noticed recently is that his face is looking extremely greasy in some pics & video. Either they're now using actual greasepaint or someone has a heavy hand with the liquid/creme bronzer. Either way all it does is make him look sweaty or like he hasn't washed his face in days.

On censorship and truth, this from the Sky feed:

'"Indispensable' Italian drones destroyed by attack on Kuwait airbase
A military base in Kuwait hosting US and Italian soldiers has been the target of a drone attack, reporters Simone Baglivo, Europe producer.
It struck a storage shelter for Italian drones, destroying them, the Italian defence ministry said.
The Italian aircraft were an "indispensable asset for conducting operational activities", sources say."

With all the reports of strikes against military bases, the US consistently says little to no damage. All they have admitted so far is slight damage to some parked up air tankers. And that was a Trump "truth". The first statement of real damage is from the Italians.

Statistically, that is just wow. That out of all the military assets in the area, the only stuff destroyed so far, after thousands of drones and missiles, is the stuff belonging to one of the smallest forces in the area.

I suspect the US is not telling the whole story here.

whoTFismadelaine · 15/03/2026 15:13

I was wondering, as the govt is now saying it will help with the energy price increases that are going to happen, would it not be more worthwhile for them to lower barriers to Solar and Heat Pump installation? Halving costs by bulk buying from China and doing a diesel scrappage scheme to enable affordable electric cars? Long term making us less reliant on US and Russia can only be a good thing.
