It ain't nothing but a heart-breaker
(War) Friend only to The Undertaker
(Edwin Starr 1970, written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong)

Unless, of course, your name ends in Trump, when it ain't nothing but an opportunity to grift, deflect and destroy.

Was he under the impression they had put up big closed signs in the middle of the sea?

What my DM would have described as "cutting off your nose to spite your face".

'We don't need Ukraine's help' — Trump rebuffs Zelensky's drone defense offer.
"No, we don't need (Ukraine's) help in drone defense," Trump said in the interview. "We know more about drones than anybody. We have the best drones in the world, actually."

Trump's not wrong.
No one is better than he at droning on and on and on

logicisall · 13/03/2026 21:46

Breaking news.

Israel has hit a base in Lebanon with UN troops.

Eyesopenwideawake · 13/03/2026 21:47

Collateral damage. It's war, innit?

After a previous 'attack' on UN troops one might even say it's not a coincidence either!

Donald Trump has said that he will know the Iran conflict is over “when I feel it in my bones.”

No strategy to follow at all then. As suspected.

DuncinToffee · 13/03/2026 23:08

And that will be where the Marines are being sent?

Justsaynonow · 13/03/2026 23:33

Someone a few pages back asked about how frequently trump has golfed this term.
"Donald Trump has golfed 98 days out of 418 days since returning to office (23.4% of the presidency spent golfing)."

Once again it's a Trump bait and switch. He's saying never Iranian nuclear weapons when his real aim is taking control of Iran's oil.

Iran would probably sabotage something on Kharg island, enough to temporarily neutralise it as a counter threat to SoH, and then drag out the war. USD12 billion spent in two weeks, let's make them spend more.

China's response to Khard island will be interesting.

logicisall · 13/03/2026 23:46

Bloomberg reporting that the US got a USD 10 billion fee from the sale of TikTok. Taking bets on how much of it goes into Trump's pocket.

CNN : "Separately, a senior Iranian official told CNN that Tehran is considering allowing some vessels to pass through, provided the cargo is traded in Chinese yuan."

The Party have their own ideas for the new world order. I often wonder if Trump is a Party member.

Imagine the mess the planet would be in if he didn't golf? 😱

Scott Bessant Treasurary Secretary re Straits of Hormuz
"My belief is that as soon as it is militarily possible, the US Navy, perhaps with an international coalition, will be escorting vessels through."
Which International coalition would that be, since Trump has clearly said he doesn't need any help from UK, Spain, or Ukraine? Does he have any friends left? Russia?

I’m guessing that’s the oil price through the roof.

Again, the first long post in this bluesky is not his work - too coherent, even if the content is low information guff. The shorter one in that thread is pure Trump invective.

PermanentTemporary · 14/03/2026 06:59

I’d like Trump to golf every day. Preferably without his phone or anyone but a caddy.

RafaistheKingofClay · 14/03/2026 09:11

the works would be much safer place if Trump had spent 100% of his presidency golfing.

Or if they’d just built a White House version of that office they built for his Dad alongside some generals playing CoD or any military strategy game.

Trumps "Big Beautiful Game", a cross between Monopoly, Battleships and Risk.

And the unpredictability of snakes and ladders.

SerendipityJane · 14/03/2026 10:07

Unless I am missing something here, the Iranians have been given a substitute for nuclear weapons in the form of their control of the straits of Hormuz. With China providing some discreet assistance on the forming of plan that allows non-US allies (i.e. not trading in dollars) to pass through the straits whilst tankers carrying oil in dollars could be considered a legitimate target* as they will be aligned, if not allied with the US.

I don't think France or Germany are too bothered about having to trade oil in Euros.

*For the hard of thinking that would be the Iranian view.

Justdancevance · 14/03/2026 10:15

They should just build him his own ‘Truman show’ where he gets to wear his makeup and is given participation trophy’s and actors pretend to be world leaders and fox films an alternative news for him. Banks and lawyers give him fake bank statements and pretend deals and he golfs half the week and the grown ups are back in charge. It would be far cheaper to run this show than the damage he is inflicting on the world with his shit show presidency

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 14/03/2026 10:23

The trouble with that idea comes when you look at who the "grown ups" are in his cabinet at the moment.

I don't want Rubio, Hegseth, Kennedy, Vance et al in charge!

logicisall · 14/03/2026 10:49

Re the WH videos on the war with Iran. Last night on BBC's The Context, the observation was made that it is not a case of the WH account being left in the hand of teenagers but instead it's a deliberately coded message for a target audience that will understand. The message is actually a flex: 'we are powerful and unstoppable. We are doing this because we can'. Which then reminds me that young males voted in unprecedented numbers for Trump. Strategy?

The new world order. Trump wants to be an authoritarian, others are more practiced at that particular skill. But it's really a reversion to the old world order I reckon, democracy being the new kid on the block, an experimental one at that.

Trump is the failure of the democratic system. And I think all democracies will likely end up with a Trump. Because as the Overton window oscillates about the center, the center will, by definition, land at the 50:50 point. And instead of leaving at as steady state politics, there will always be a Trump stepping in to yell "divided society".
