I've got an M&S mushroom papardelle use by 7th March. It's been in my very cold fridge since I bought it.

Would you eat it for lunch?

I probably would yes

DanaScullysLegoHair · 09/03/2026 12:52

Yep.

Yes.

Myfridgeiscool · 09/03/2026 12:53

Yep. Get it nuclear hot in the microwave and allow to cool before eating.

TallulahBetty · 09/03/2026 12:53

Yes as long as it smells and looks ok.

Teddy589 · 09/03/2026 12:55

Yes I would. I’d think twice if it was prawns, or other seafood, but otherwise I’d be fine about it.

CarlaH · 09/03/2026 13:00

Yes

maximist · 09/03/2026 13:01

I’d eat it any time this week.

mumlong · 09/03/2026 13:02

If it smells and looks normal, it’s probably fine. If anything seems off, don’t eat it.

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 09/03/2026 13:02

No way, that would be madness.

I've already had lunch and don't need a second.

😂😂😂

Bjorkdidit · 09/03/2026 13:11

That sounds like the sort of food that will taste bad, and may have gone a bit mushy long before it's actually going to make anyone ill so yes, as long as it's not visibly mouldy and not slimy/mushy than yes of course.

MrsClattenburg · 09/03/2026 13:14

God, yes but I'll eat anything that smells ok!

Dearg · 09/03/2026 13:28

I think M&S are very conservative with their dates, so yes, I would eat this.

OnGoldenPond · 09/03/2026 13:37

Will be absolutely fine. The use by dates always leave a very big margin of error so two days over is nothing. Especially as it is not a meat dish, which are generally the highest risk for food poisoning.

BillieWiper · 09/03/2026 13:41

There's loads of different things in there that could attract bacteria. Ready meals I don't tend to go over the date.

When I did food hygiene they explained it like a whole cow would have bacteria on the surface, but minced meat or chopped things mixed with other things, each particle can have bacteria covering it. And the more processes and ingredients the more chance to get contaminated. Even before it goes off.

DramaAlpaca · 09/03/2026 13:55

Yes, without hesitation as long as it's been kept refrigerated.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 09/03/2026 13:57

I would. It’s veggie nothing bad is going to happen to it.

youalright · 09/03/2026 13:59

No as id spend the rest of the day convincing myself I'm ill but im weird like that
