Washing bath mat

How on earth do you wash a thick bathmat? My washing machine can't cope with it and just comes up with an error, so did my previous washing machine. I'm assuming it's because it's so heavy when wet. How on earth do you then wash the buggers?

My washing machine errors if the load is uneven, so if I only wash one or two towels it'd error. But if I stuff the thing full of towels and sheets, it happily potters away until it's finished. Have you tried looking up the error code to check it's not just uneven weight distribution?

I do mine weeklyish in my washer. It's a 9kg machine and never struggled. I'd describe my bathmats as big/ medium weight and I do 2 at a time.

How big is your bathmat?

Take it to a launderette or if that’s going to be financially/time inefficient get some new thinner bath mats that are easy to wash & dry.

just use a towel to step onto after bath/shower

I specifically bought bathmats that were relatively thin and easy to wash and dry. They're from Christy.

I had exactly that issue with our previous bath mats. They were really luxurious and thick. But so heavy when wet. We had to make sure we put just the right amount of other washing in with them or we'd have issues.

We got rid of them when we moved house.

Yeah it is uneven distribution but I've no idea how to stop it happening. I'll try filling it fuller and see if that helps.

I use a light towel and hang it on the radiator in the evening and replace every 2nd or 3rd day with new while one is in the wash.

This.

My bathmat is smaller than a towel and I can wash about 4 of them, maybe get a smaller one. I hang it to dry when we've finished with it on the towel radiator and wash it weekly with the bathroom towels

Yeah, that'll do it. Just make sure it's full to the brim and it'll be fine

Thanks
