Can we talk about pot pourri?

I want some pot pourri.

But I want to avoid the sweet, synthetic, plastic-y smell that I remember of pot pourri from the 80s and 90s. And I want one that really lasts

I've come across Santa Maria Novella pot pourri on another thread. It's pricey but I don't mind too much if it lasts a long time. Does it?

What other brands are good for pot pourri? I'd rather avoid cheap options if they're not going to last very long and smell a bit cheap too.

Thank you!

Got to be honest , however lovely it smell, they are dust catchers . Hope you find better advice from all the experts!

I like it too . Makes some jars or bowls more interesting. But I have never found one that retained smell very well probably because my rooms are too big . So reluctant to spend big money on it .

I heard about the Santa Maria Novella pot pourri on Abigail Ahearnes Instagram. I love her aesthetic so I bought some. I hated the smell, very overpowering. Can confirm that it lasts forever. Could still smell it after I'd thrown it away and aired the rooms out. Scuttled back to good old Diptyque Baies room spray.

You can buy bottles of smelly oil to sprinkle on your pot pourri to liven it up.

I dry the lavender from my garden and pop sprigs in bowls . Lasts the year and then replace . Can dust bowls as sprigs are easier to lift out and you get the joy of the lavender outside as well.

I just checked out that Santa Marie stuff . Cheaper to go to Florence and buy it I think .

So I love mine, but I buy it unscented online and then use oil blends to keep the scent and keep it lasting! I use neom essential oil blends, the destress and sleep ones especially.

The Santa Maria Novella pot pourri is amazing and I love it. But it’s not light and flowery - it’s got quite a dark undertone. It’s definitely long lasting.
