Good morning from my kitchen spot...for the final time!!

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, and having breakfast, before I get a shift on & get dressed.

When I'm dressed, I'll pack the last of my things, then it'll be time to start moving 🥳. I'll also wake dd2 so she can pack the last of her things and be ready.

Takeaway for tea...obvs 🤣, and almost certainly a later than usual night on the horizon 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning All

Good luck with the move @lucysmam!

I’m not well, have a terrible cough, runny nose, blocked sinuses etc and it’s horrible. So bad that I couldn’t got and see Greg Davies last night and I LOVE Greg so it must be really bad.

Today will be spent with tissues on the sofa watching rugby and football under a blanket.

DS1 is playing golf, DSD is doing homework today because she has a big day tomorrow meeting her boyfriend’s extended family for the first time!

DP has just left to take DSS to boxing and said he will pick up snacks and treats for me because he’s a good egg.

DS2 will make chicken and chorizo rice for dinner because he’s also a good egg!

Tangerinesattack · 07/03/2026 09:01

Morning all. Definitely a meh day today. I seem to have broken our new washing machine - DH is having a look. DS's ear infection returned and he's finally on antibiotics so he could do with some quiet recovery time. I've been very out of sorts this week also. Work has been very busy and I'm also totally scunnered they won't let me go part time. I've got some bits of work I need to do so will do that with a great sense of bitterness and martyrdom. I also need to do my mum's accounts for the court as her guardian - it's the first time I've done it and I'm very anxious about it - this sort of thing is not my forte at all. What a dull day I have lined up!
I'm going to grab a coffee in the garden first and listen to the birds. Dinner is a chicken tray bake recipe from Ping off MasterChef.
Have a good day everyone - hope the move goes well @lucysmam

NorthernDramaLlama · 07/03/2026 09:03

Good morning all! And best of luck, @lucysmam !!
I’m up early as well today - for the first time since Christmas I’ve woken up feeling “normal”. Fingers crossed I m FINALLY over whatever lurgy I’ve had.
Second load of washing on and I need to sort out insurance for my new-to-me car that I’m picking up at lunch time. So excited! Going to take DD and the doggo for a spin and celebrate with a coffee and a slice of cake.

JacknDiane · 07/03/2026 09:03

Fab news you are moving @lucysmam, hope it goes well

Im in bed with a cup of te and going to work later.

WeepingAngelInTheTardis · 07/03/2026 09:14

Good luck with the move lucysmam!

Not much planned this weekend, DS14 had to have an emergency xray on his hip yesterday found out he’s damged it so will be resting it until we hear back from his GP for a plan of action next week. He’s requested a cane so he can go around like Doctor House 😳😂

Probably pop out and do a food shop,ds10 needs a hair cut then carry on reading my new book.

Taytocrisps · 07/03/2026 09:14

Just dropped DD to work. I'm not a morning person anyway and then we had a minor row in the car. Glad to be home now and looking forward to some breakfast. I think I'm still annoyed with her for spilling slime all over my dining room carpet last night. To make matters worse, it's a vivid blue colour. She's 21, not 8, ffs!

After breakfast, I'm going to hit drop some books off at the charity shop and then hit the supermarket.

Need to do a bit of housework and phone my sister to arrange a girls' lunch for my other sister who is getting married this year.

My home insurance quote arrived, but it seems very high. I want to dig out last year's quote and see how it compares. And I need to book my car in for NCT.

@lucysmam best of luck with the move and I hope you and your DDs will be very happy in your new home.

MrsClattenburg · 07/03/2026 09:15

Morning all!

DH is at work and the kids away at Uni so I have the house to myself which I love on a Saturday 😊

I've had a tea, 2 weetabix, a coffee and am off to the gym for a couple of hours. Then home to pamper myself and get ready for a bottomless brunch at 4pm 🍸 There are 18 of us going so not sure where we'll end up or what time we'll get home...

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 07/03/2026 09:18

Good morning @lucysmam - you’re up bright & early! Hope the packing & move go smoothly. I’ve been out of circulation so missed that you had found somewhere. Hi to the rest of the Saturday crew too. I’ve been up since before 4am as my shoulder is hurting from incorrectly lifting DM 😢 I was a carer years ago but have forgotten most of my training. I moved in with my folks for nearly 3 weeks & may be going back again soon, depending on what happens about a care home. It’s such a privilege to help look after them although incredibly hard at times & extremely emotional.
Just brewing my 3rd cuppa & might have some toast & orange blossom honey. That’s one of the few things that DD17 doesn’t like so it lasts more than 5 minutes. She’s eating for Britain! As I’ve been up so long I’ve got lots done, including several loads of washing. Not sure about the weather but might risk hanging it out once I’m dressed. The dishwasher needs doing & I plan to hoover downstairs & maybe mop the kitchen floor. Dusting is a priority! Popped 3 more items on Vinted. It would have been 4 but I discovered stains on the Klass Collection blouse. I could have returned it to the charity shop if I hadn’t foolishly recycled the receipt. DD had asked for help with cleaning her room but her period’s started so she doesn’t want to do it today now. It will take at least a couple of days anyway. Tempted to have the same tea as last night ( battered cod, oven chips & beans). Maybe with peas instead. Will watch BGT & The Good Doctor. Oh & may pop over to see DM & DF at some point as I left some bits there & I have some tealights to give them for one of those spinning thingies! Have a lovely Saturday everyone ❤️

WonsWoo · 07/03/2026 09:21

Happy moving day @lucysmam

I have no plan for today. I’ve had a busy week at work and my brain feels fried. I’ll
probably tackle the pile at the end of our bed and need to get DH to find homes for things he has accumulated there over the last six months.

A long walk with the dog would do me good but the weather is uninspiring so might just take him to the beach.

Chilli for dinner.

DilemmaDelilah · 07/03/2026 09:47

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I'm so glad you found somewhere to move to - I hope it is nice, the move is easy, and you settle in quickly.

We are away for the week, near Hartland in North Devon, in a lovely place with a swimming pool which we have entirely to ourselves for most of the day. So I have already had a swim and a shower, and first and second breakfasts (before and after swimming).

I think we're going to Asda this morning to pick up some air fryer liners. There is no dishwasher here and I don't fancy washing out the basket after cooking sausages.

Other than that, I have nothing else at all planned for today, other than swimming again this afternoon. We are having spaghetti Bolognese this evening, I took some out of the freezer at home to bring with us, I'm not doing any proper cooking this week.

It was lovely and sunny first thing this morning, but the mist has rolled in and the usually spectacular view of the sea is now just a grey mass.

Topsy44 · 07/03/2026 10:03

Good morning All

Hope the move goes well today Lucysmam.

Am off out with DD later this morning to go and see my elderly Mum. She’s 88 and does so well living on her own but I think her driving days will b coming to an end soon so I’ll be doing a little test drive with her today to see how things are.

Then this evening we’ll be home for Gladiators and putting my feet up. After a visit to the dentist this week where I found out I need 2 fillings I might have to forego my Sat eve choc treats although I feel menopause has had a big part to play with my gums!!

mamaduckbone · 07/03/2026 10:09

Happy Saturday everyone but where has the sun gone? It’s grey and miserable here.
All the best with your move @lucysmam and hope your new place has a good replacement kitchen spot!
I've been for my morning run and chat, now eating porridge and drinking tea, looking at the daffodils and primroses in the garden and listening to the radio.

I need to have a bit of a tidy and pick up a few things in town, then it’s rugby this afternoon (county cup semi-final for ds2 - unlikely to win 😬) followed by England match at home. Ds1 is back from
uni for the weekend so we’ll watch with him and his gf, possibly ds2 depending on his mood and if he’s out celebrating / commiserating with his team mates. A couple of drinks and curry for dinner, which Dh has just finished prepping.

lucysmam · 07/03/2026 10:25

Very nearly done! It's mainly just furniture to go on the van when it arrives - my dad's been taking (big) car loads the past couple of days.

Fairlydust · 07/03/2026 10:35

Good luck with everything I hope the house becomes a home @lucysmam. I have a quiet weekend just me and the dog. I have been to collect the food shop. Tried to hoover but the hoover is making an awful noise. Off to the country park with the dog for a walk and hot chocolate. Then I have work to do. Children are with their dad and dp is working away for too long! Enjoy your weekends all!

Tarkan · 07/03/2026 11:58

Morning (just!) Smile

We’re having a fairly chilled Saturday here today. It’s the only Saturday DH has off for the next few weeks so our only plan is going to the footy this afternoon.

Eldest DC is away at a convention this weekend so we took youngest (who turned 18 recently) out last night to a local pool hall to play darts and we ended up staying there for hours. DC is autistic and has anxiety in new places so this was a huge thing for us.

Tiddlywinks63 · 07/03/2026 13:06

Good afternoon @lucysmam and everyone, a murky, gray day here.
I have an all day zoom art session today, but because I’m horribly puffed (heart failure is ramping up) I am struggling to focus 😬
At least I can sit and watch in peace while DH deals with the dogs etc.
It’s daft, just walking up the stairs from getting a drink and I’m short of breath.
Anyway, jacket potatoes with beef stew for dinner later, treacle tart to follow.
A quiet evening later x

Decafflatteplease · 07/03/2026 13:14

Aww @lucysmam so pleased you got sorted with your house, update us when you can and hope it's lovely for you!

We are off on a browse round the charity shops today, nothing in particular looking for just having a mooch.

Chicken pittas for tea later, and a bottle of wine with DH when DC asleep our usual Saturday routine!

JustGiveMeReason · 07/03/2026 13:17

Just watching the Lionesses play Iceland (on TV, not in Nottingham).

Hope your move goes smoothly - an exhausting day for anyone.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/03/2026 13:21

At Kempton Park motorcycle jumble with an indoor pitch selling parts. Left home at 06.30. Expect to be finished here by 2.30ish. Had quite a good day 😁.

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
WhatFlavourIsIt · 07/03/2026 14:48

I've got to be honest, I love a bit of themed 'tat'. My kids know I do and they'll buy me something from the seasonal aisles. As many posters that are in the I don't expect anything or any acknowledgement that the day even exists from my family camp, there will be an equal amount here on the day complaining they didn't get anything or the whole day was ruined because their husband didn't get the 'right' present.

Tiddlywinks63 · 07/03/2026 15:30

Oops!
Just read back….
Very best of luck in your new home @lucysmam , so pleased you’ve found somewhere nice x

WhatFlavourIsIt · 07/03/2026 19:49

Shit sorry wrong thread Blush

gingercat02 · 07/03/2026 20:16

Evening all. Hope you're moved and all is well @lucysmam
We have had a difficult weekend. Our lovely little cat had some sort of neurological event last night, so no one had much sleep.
DH has spent today trying to source the leak in the shower and watching Scotland beat France in the rugby.
I have been builders mate and been to my volunteering role. It was a beautiful day to spend with the seals.
We had burritos for tea. DH and DS are off to the FA cup game and I'm chilling with a now content cat, a glass of wine and The Lady on TV.
Look forward to your news soon. Happy new home 🏡

chinacrisisofcupkind · 08/03/2026 08:59

@lucysmamhope the move went well? I’ve had a shower - first one since surgery on Wednesday and feel wiped out now. DS is at footie so I might have a wee snooze before he returns and then treat him to maccies delivery on return. I need something good to watch on tv - any recommendations? I’m on with the Walsh sisters and early finished that and got below deck sailing yacht that im trying. I have no concentration as I’m tired though.
