Dd (16) has just been diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. She struggles with processing verbal information. Is currently working really hard to try and achieve C grades at gcse. It has been recommended that she tries an app like Otter AI. Can someone explain such apps to me as if I am 5? How do they work? Do they record the teacher speaking and then summarise into a written format? All new to me and I don’t have a clue.

Yes basically that- it records the audio and gives you a full transcript, so a verbatim of what's been said, and also a summary (so key notes and actions from the recording).

Otter is free for recording up to 30 mins at once, but you can just start a new recording straight after to record as much as you want. There's a desktop and a phone app version.

She would need to get permission of people to record though- which would include the teacher, plus anyone else who speaks (so potentially other students as well), I'm not sure how that would work.
