Are my periods getting heavier / more painful due to Peri?

I'm 46, generally feeling unaffected thus far by peri (but do have another health condition so I've been dealing with exhaustion and brain fog for the past 8 years!!)

Have notice periods are getting worse, specifically beforehand? Lots of cramping and pain and even nausea in the lead up. Much like when I first started my periods in my early teens.

Google (well AI which seems to bloody answer everything you put into Google these days) says yes this is quite common with Peri but its not a symptom I've heard commonly mentioned?

Guess this is a bit of a "misery loves company" tread.

Edited to add I seem to find one month worse than the other - even ovulation is painful when its from my right ovary and my mood is definitely worse. Is this also a thing, period from one ovary being worse than the other?

Yes I’m the same! So heavy I soak through tampons, pads and period pants in minutes. More painful too - I stopped getting period pain at all after my first labour but then it started coming back with peri.

I’ve only got one ovary so it’s always the same one but I do have some months better than others for sure.
