How did you lower cholesterol naturally?

I am trying to avoid statins. Was on steroids for years and finally tapering. Hoping this will make a real difference.

Will lose a few kg to put me in the middle of the normal BMI range (losing the steroid puff). Peri, which doesn't help.

Exercise - frustratingly gently after severe illness.

Oats for two days in a row every few weeks - see the recent study.

Roast tomatoes - used to eat them raw, but apparently cooked is much better.

Kimchi,

I am vegetarian and don't eat many UPFs, so not many cholesterol heavy foods to ditch.

Any magic tricks?

This has been a really informative and useful thread and thrown up some good ideas. I'm very fit and athletic with a resting HR of 38 and a healthy blood panel at last test (although will book in for a private advanced lipid profile). I honestly had no idea about the the coffee so have now invested in a decent filter coffee machine (previously drinking a whole large caffetierre every morning). I'll also add in a decent plant sterol supplement. I've just started using a good quality beetroot powder which I mix with my morning multivitamin alongside creatine and vitamin D + K2. Diet wise, on an average day, I consume:
Breakfast:
Overnight oats with flaxseed, chia, blueberries and raspberries, oat milk and kefir.
Lunch:
Oily fish and egg salad with beans and mixed salad.
Snack:
Nuts and veg sticks with hummus.
Dinner: a complete protein (chicken, tofu, tempeh, etc), half a plate of veg and a wholegrain of some sort (quinoa, bulgar wheat, brown rice).

Found this thread after I started my own about cholesterol levels. Some great information.
I have bad anxiety at the moment due to other things and I’m worrying myself sick over this. I am more concerned about the triglycerides which is above normal levels.

I am having a fasting test in 2 weeks and I have already started my new diet regime but I don’t think it will make much difference to the results. I only ate a banana beforehand. Don’t want to go on statins if I can help it but hoping my lifestyle changes will make a difference. I need to calm down.
