Identifying Body Shop fragrance from mid 90s

Hi I've a small plastic bottle of perfumed oil that I bought in 1996 from The Body Shop.
Amazingly, it still smells the same but very little left.
I've long forgotten what it's called and no name on bottle.

Key info: It has a strong lemon/ citrus scent.

Any ideas what it is? I'd like to trawl ebay for more. I adore it.

Thanks.

I should add that it was discontinued years ago because if I saw the name I'd recognise it.

Anaya? Dewberry is back and it’s gorgeous.

Body Shop did an Ayurveda range (sorted by ‘kappa’) in the mid-‘90s (in brown bottles) and one of them was the best smell I have ever smelled - have been trying to replace it for 30 years and counting…

QuintadosMalvados · 04/03/2026 08:01

Thanks for replies. It might be Ananya but keep posting as I could have a 'that's it!' moment if I see the name.

Annie perfume was gorgeous, too.

Have you got a Rituals shop near you? Only I am sure that when I was in there with a friend she said that their version of Ayurveda smelled exactly like The Body Shop one she wore as a teen. I wouldn't know, I was a White Musk girl only because everyone else was wearing Dewberry.

Ananya wasn’t citrussy.

Was it Eau de Zitron? That sounds familiar to me.

FreddysFingers · 04/03/2026 08:07

Oceanus?

Ooh thank you, will have a look

I worked in the Body Shop in the mid 90s, so this takes me back. Sounds like Eau de Zitron, that was intense and lemony. There was also Bergamot and a grapefruit fragrance, but those would be more distinct I think. Ananya was a floral and Oceanus a fresh scent. so can't be those. I remember the glass bottles on the stands that we would have to refill, people were always dropping and shattering the wands! Good luck tracking it down.

Not that, but thanks for reply. Body Shop was very different back then.
I used to love those glass wands!

Could be what I identify as citrus is not actually citrus. Lol.

Don't think so, though.

Definitely agree with the PPs who have said Eau de Zitron! It was very lemony and I can picture the little plastic oil bottle. One of my uni housemates liked it.

BridgetRandomfuck · 04/03/2026 08:22

Satsuma?

APatternGrammar · 04/03/2026 08:27

They just brought my 90s body shop perfume (tobacco flower) back so don't lose hope!
However, you might be better finding a perfume with the same ingredients. An old bottle from ebay might not have been stored correctly and wouldn't smell right.

CatherineHeathcliffe · 04/03/2026 08:34

I still have an original bottle of white musk oil from the early 90s which I get out and dab on if I'm feeling low. It makes me feel 16 again.

It would be white musk of course since that is very far from citrus. When I was at school practically everyone wore dewberry.

pookahchoo · 04/03/2026 08:37

Leap? Though that was more floral than citrus I think.

Wallawallakoala · 04/03/2026 08:39

Spirit of moonflower? I bloody loved that! Might still do it?

CatherineHeathcliffe · 04/03/2026 08:39

It is of course a shame that the body shop is so anti feminist.

Is there a reason do we think why the mother's day advertising shows a man in his 50s wearing only his boxer shorts and DMs hugging an elderly woman? Bizarre.

Wallawallakoala · 04/03/2026 08:41

Juba maybe?

I no longer know much about The Body Shop, however, back in the 80s it had a very feminist image.
Apologies if you know this but I don't know the age and knowledge range of other people here.

That was very long ago unfortunately. Now they no longer know what a woman is.

70sGreenGoblin · 04/03/2026 08:48

I was thinking Juba too, it was lovely, very fresh smell, and I've missed it ever since. Why don't they reintroduce it instead of cloying Dewberry?😭
