Would you book a holiday to South Africa in May

I wouldn’t book anywhere outside the UK just now, there’s too much risk to international airspace.

Oh lord. I’m flying to france. Southern France 😳 this week. Should I panic?

I used to work in South Africa and honestly, it isn’t somewhere I’d voluntarily choose to holiday, but I wouldn’t feel at all uncomfortable because of events in the ME.

Why would you say that? Plenty of people (including myself) have visited SA. It's a wonderful experience and you just need to take care. Plenty of advice online as to how to keep safe.

Dh is going (to see his dad who still lives there) in April. Normally he flies via Dubai to Durban, but thankfully this year he had booked to fly to Jo’burg then internal flight to Durban. I’ve stopped going with him as that area hasn’t felt safe the last few times I’ve been.

We’re going in October so hopefully it will have calmed down by then. We have booked with BA however as it is direct from London to Cape Town. There are lots of flights via the Middle East but the journeys are much longer so I’d give them a swerve for that reason.

I’ve been to 62 countries and my favourite place in the world is Cape Town.

Not sure why the Middle East is more likely to set off SA than anywhere else?
