I am not qualified to speculate, but I had a very painful muscle under my armpit and couldn't fathom it out....then I remembered I had made an awkward exit from a taxi with heavy shopping, and wrenched my shoulder. It took a couple of days for the sprain to take effect tho. Could it be something like that ?

Could it be a lymph node near your arm pit? Do you feel any swelling? Best to get it checked I’d say.

FluentTealGuide · 02/03/2026 13:45

No harm in seeing the GP now. They can do a physical check of your lymph nodes. Once that’s ruled out they might want to wait and see or do other tests. Either way, they’ll have a log and easier for follow-up if it gets worse or doesn’t go away.

Have you been unwell recently or run down? I find if I’m unwell my lymph nodes swell and hurt

mindutopia · 02/03/2026 14:07

If it’s sporadic and no palpable lump, I’d just leave it for a week or so. A pain can be just that, a pain, and nothing to be alarmed about. If it still hurts in a week, I’d maybe consider having it looked at. Without a lump though, it’s hard to zero in on what exactly needs investigating.

Lymph node? I had a needle prick-like pain in my armpit over the past year but it waxes and wanes with my skin condition. GP checked and assured me it is linked. It's gone now my skin has cleared up.

Could you be fighting an infection?

Thanks all..
I have been exercising but it's feeling of glowing with pain intermittently and often when I'm not moving

I’ve had this for the last couple of weeks, started with one and thought it was caused by rubbing on my clothes, then the other armpit started and I could actually see the lumps. Definitely my lymph nodes as have been fighting some kind of lurgy, coughing up gross stuff in the morning. Today is the first day they haven’t hurt.

Other thing to consider is if you've changed your deodorant?

Zivvy · 02/03/2026 14:16

At least a week (I'd wait two weeks personally) if no other symptoms and you're not in unmanageable pain.

The vast majority of weird aches and pains resolve themselves and the GPs would be overrun if we all booked appointments for everything, when most will clear up on their own.
