What should I ask for for my birthday?

Its my birthday in a few weeks, and my husband has asked what I want but I honestly can't think of anything.
I'm mid 30s. I dont need any clothes / shoes / bags / jewellery, and I can't really think of anything else.

Day out, nice lunch, afternoon tea? Musical, play, concert?

DappledThings · 01/03/2026 15:13

Nothing? If you don't want anything why do you want other people to come up with something just for the sake of having something?

Books, music, all the seeds and gardening bits, do you have any hobbies? Nice bath stuff and candles? Food and drink that’s a treat??

Can't he just use his imagination? I hate when people ask this!

Lesley2022 · 01/03/2026 17:35

Do you have any hobbies? Or anything you always wished you could do/experience?

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 01/03/2026 18:18

Botox, microneedling, floatation tank, massage, red light mask, personal training, weekend away,

MrsHaroldWilson · 01/03/2026 18:20

I think you can never have too much jewellery 😆

It was my birthday last week, I asked for some resistance bands for Pilates, a new hiking backpack, a heat wrap that you can put in the microwave and use like a hot water bottle, and a vanilla scented candle. I got them all and love them, but they are quite specific so might not be of any help 😄

This. It's not a present if he needs to be told what to buy.

I would love someone else to organise a full day date

Might be too late this year, but I started my list last year. Simple note on my phone. Link to something I think I want. But the time my birthday comes around once got a list and definitely still want it if it's been on the list for ages!

My ideas

Tom's Studio pen
Japanese watercolour paints
New weekend away bag Antler
Reflexology appointments
Cardigan from Scamp & Dude
Jo Malone blackberry and bay cologne
Osprey Narissa leather cross body bag
Neom shower cream or L'occitanne almond oil

CoffeeBeansGalore · 01/03/2026 18:57

Favourite perfume or a new one you want to try?

MulberryPeony · 01/03/2026 19:24

Like @TooTiredToType77 said. You need to keep a list running. For some ideas, on my list currently:
Lego French cafe
Hobby related book
Tiny gold studs
Sézane jumper
Twisted Lipstick indoor plant
Silver necklace
Wool Nordic socks
Low profile trainers
Whittard Lychee and Rose tea
Whistles leather jacket (one can dream!)

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 01/03/2026 19:27

Short city break
Seville, Ghent, Bath

I have an O birthday this year and dh has booked a weekend away just the 2 of us. Had to tell me it was happening though because I'm crap with surprises.

I think if there's nothing physical you need then time and/or a place to go. Whether that's alone or with partner/friends/family. Cake and balloons.
