Volunteering with CAB questions

I’ve applied to my local branch but it’s been a few weeks now and I haven’t heard back, even just an automated email. After googling a bit I’ve read that they may only get in touch if they need someone or think your skills will be useful. I want to get fixed up with a volunteer role soon, should I email to ask about vacancies? Or just move on to something else. If anyone has experience with the CAB I’d appreciate any insight.

Can you call in to see them in person? I think that would be quite a powerful way of showing your interest & expediting the process.
Also - could they just be extremely busy, so not dealing with less immediate items, despite that obviously being unhelpful in the longer term.

They are probably understaffed and very busy maybe phone them fwiw when i enquired it was a 6 month training course, might not be what you are able to commit to.
