Mini rant - to be ill once I have a day off/the weekend is here

I started a new job 6 weeks ago, there’s a lot to learn and adjust to. I’ve been coming home absolutely exhausted, my partner’s been dealing with health issues, and winter has just felt a bit… grey. We’re also saving for the wedding which nice, but it does mean we've been saving the pennies.

I’d been really looking forward to this weekend. I’d booked Friday off to see my old school friend and meet her new baby, then had book club which is always a laugh. Me and my partner also planned to go out and look at wedding rings.

Then earlier in the week my throat started to feel strange, like I couldn’t swallow started feeling properly. By Thursday it felt like razor blades, and on Friday I woke up feeling like I’d been hit by a bus — full of cold, aching everywhere. So of course I had to cancel everything. Now it’s Saturday afternoon, I’m still lying on the sofa feeling awful, and I’m sure I’ll magically be better just in time for another chaotic week at work.

Sigh. I know it’s not a “real” problem. I’m just feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Join the club. This has a tendency to happen to me. I am a teacher but spent most of half term in bed ill, recovered just in time to go back to school. Was the same in the Christmas holidays. I just want to be well and have some energy to enjoy my downtime. You have my sympathy!
