What in your life gave you the most happiness or a feeling of contentment/peace?

Just that really.

Swimming in the sea at sunset after a glass of wine reminded me of the opening scene of Jaws.
Hope you’re not in waters where sharks could come for you!

Sitting on a sandy beach as the sun goes down, sharing a drink and a packet of crisps with my other half and our grown up DD.

Divorce.
The calm environment can not be invaded.
Peace.
DD is now completely safe too.

My home.

This made me a bit teary. So glad you got your baby

Past tense - my beautiful beagles. Current one is still young and a bit mental but we will get there!
When my DD (disabled) and I can go swimming and then have music on really loudly in the WAV with the windows open and she’s going nuts - this requires summer!
When it’s finally quiet in the house and I can sleep for an hour without worrying about DD or something or someone annoying/needing me (so rare I think I might have made this up).

reading and writing

Came on to say this. The feelings of utter relief at never having to see or put up with him again took me by surprise.

Walking my dog along the canal in the summer when the baby ducklings are starting to hatch.

Retiring from teaching at 55. It’s been nearly 3 years and I still can’t believe the positive effect it’s had on me!

Lying on a sun bed in the Caribbean with my lovely Mum holding hands and talking. She died a few years ago and this is the happy place I go to when feeling sad.

Books.

Moving to the countryside. Unfortunately, developers are replacing the fields and woods with housing estates.

Every July,
picking french beans and courgettes and tomatoes pimentos and basil
and then going back to the kitchen to fix supper

I guess they could come for you at any time?! 😬

When my husband started on anti depressants… the sense of peace is amazing!

Being with my grandson.

My dogs.

My husband. Every day.

They feed at dusk.
I know my shark films. 😀

Being a sahm mother to two preschoolers.

Nothing has ever made me so content or happy.

They are about to leave home and it's never been as good as when they were baby/toddler, 1&3/2&4 etc.

Having all my children under my roof again (whether house or car)- hardly ever happens any more.

Knowing my DS is safe and loved by me and his DF despite our divorce.
Being able to afford a comfortable life as I have a very well paid career.
Last but not least - cats.

My atheism.
My autistic son. He’s so pure and lovely.

Breast feeding - that feeling of contentment, stillness and peace along with amazement that my body could do it. 20 years ago and still miss it.
