Any advice for career change. I am lost.

I’ve been working in a private, one-to-one care support role for quite a while. It’s been steady and meaningful work, and for a long time I really valued the position.

However, over time I’ve realised there are ongoing challenges that have made me rethink whether this type of work is right for me long-term.

I feel ready for a change, but I’m unsure what direction to go in next. I don’t think I want to stay in this field or continue in similar roles.
I’m at a stage in life where starting over feels daunting. I don’t have many formal qualifications, and the thought of going back into full-time education feels financially risky.
I do care about helping others, but I’m trying to figure out how to pivot into something different and more sustainable for me.

Has anyone made a mid-life career change from a people-focused role into something completely different? I’d really appreciate any advice or shared experiences.

You may find it helpful to browse the Mature Study and Retraining board, here:

Thank you, I think I will browse around and read that. Thank you.

What are your hobbies ?
I would look to explore your out of work time

or
You could possibly move abroad & do the same job & earn more ?

As in explore of hobbies and interests and go down the route for working with my hobbies?

Or do more hobbies and activities outside of work to feel more happy?

My main hobby is knitting but it will be impossible to earn a living from that and if I do than it becomes work and likely less enjoyable because I will be knitting for others.

I have other craft hobbies too.

I take an interest in hair care and this is something I could be interested in but I am nervous about changing and going down a route a of hairdressing and to college.

I found a day course close to my home but it's two years long. I did look into an apprenticeship last year but I forget the details. It could be 3 or 4 years. That would be daunting.
