It's definitely quicker. DH does this if he wants to speed up cooking a roast. Maybe about an hour?

I can't be arsed, it's a pain to carve, so I just joint the whole lot.

A whole chicken cooks in about an hour in my oven. It will likely be less, but really you need to check it with a thermometer,

I give a spatchcocked chicken of any weight about 2/3rds of the cook time. It's a favourite method of mine, because it's so much easier to rub flavourings all over. Hope yours was delicious.

45mins usually

Spread it 😂

It’s about 45 minutes; you don’t want to overcook it. I cook a small whole chicken for an hour, so I would definitely shorten the time for spatchcock.

Just cut the backbone out using poultry shears and spread it out flat. Or ask the butcher to do it. It takes me minutes, and the butcher seconds!
