Do clothes randomly go missing from your house too?

I cannot understand it.

Two of my hoodies went missing never to be found again. I suspect that they might have e git stolen off the washing line but I just don’t know.

Endless odd socks.

Ds had 3 pyjamas sets and the other half of the set has gone missing, they’ve never turned up.

Now a pair of his school trousers, he doesn’t get changed at school so they can’t be there, they’ve gone missing from the house.

Where do all these things go?

Do you pack away winter or summer clothes? Maybe in there?

LittleGreenDuck · 26/02/2026 13:22

Shoes in our house. A set of school shoes and a pair of Astro boots just this week. I suspect the kids change for PE and leave them places.

Sally2791 · 26/02/2026 13:23

Yes, happens all the time. Given up buying socks, just wear odd ones. Clothes appear as well.

INeedAnotherAlibi · 26/02/2026 13:25

Yes! My brand new pyjama top vanished between my boyfriend’s house and home. No way it’s lost there, he doesn’t have clutter. I’ve turned out my wardrobe and DD’s. It’s just gone. Also a virtually new cardigan that was very soft. Washed it and it vanished.

minipie · 26/02/2026 13:26

Yes. The weirdest is things I know have never left the house except on my body. A pair of earrings, a gym top. Where are they?

Kids’ socks and kit go missing all the time but that’s standard with school sports bag / changing room chaos.

Beesandhoney123 · 26/02/2026 22:46

Socks. Never a pair, just one. More recently a pair of jeans. Vanished. I've looked everywhere. So annoying.
Pillow cases have to be watched as well, nearly as bad as the socks.

halftermhalfawake · 26/02/2026 22:58

DC pyjamas bottoms and everyones socks. Without fail. Gone. Replace them. Gone. Vanished, total Houdini. It will be a mystery until the end of time.

roadtowhoknowswhere · 26/02/2026 23:24

Bikini bottoms. Washed at the same time as the tops.
Usually when dry I return to the suitcase. Tops there but no bottoms.
We live in a bungalow and it's just the 2 of us.

TheChosenTwo · 26/02/2026 23:25

My stuff does. However the mystery is usually solved when the dds fess up that they borrowed it 😂

MynameisJune · 26/02/2026 23:32

The dogs lead! Had it one day to walk her, next day it had gone. She clearly came home on the end of it and we didn’t take it out without her so where is it???

Has been lost for about 6 months now, have looked everywhere for it.

Socks, pj’s, sometimes clothes will go missing, can’t find them in any of the usual places like wash baskets/wardrobes then one day they’ll just be on the bedroom floor or something!

OMarina · 26/02/2026 23:38

Us too. Two dresses in my case. Most recently jumper belonging to my daughter.

PawMaw · 26/02/2026 23:46

Yes but the oddest thing happened to us a few years ago. We had "lost" my sons favourite pyjama trousers, vanished and assumed binned.

Years passed, new living room carpet, furniture and full room decorated in that time. Pulled the TV unit out to clean behind one day and there were the missing trousers from 3 or 4 years before. No explanation, nothing from the time they were originally lost they could have been caught on/in. Bizarre

I've been clearing out my house of things I really no longer need. You would not believe the amount of odd socks I found. It's like they all joined in unison to mock me.

I use them to dust the surfaces.

PlainJaneSuperbrainthe2nd · 27/02/2026 10:07

All the time! Although I did recently rediscover an old sports top I thought I had lost, over a year ago, at the bottom of a rucksack! The kids’ jumpers are less of a mystery (non uniform primary). It doesn’t matter that I label them - even going so far as to sew (back to the ‘80s!) woven name labels in prominent places - they still vanish in the school never to the seen again 🤷🏽‍♀️

Kitchenbattle · 27/02/2026 10:12

No, I have never understood the odd sock saga 🤣😅

ChipsandCheesewithGravy · 27/02/2026 10:15

All the time.
Ever had the opposite? I found a all in one in my daughter's wardrobe all hung up and landed that I had no clue about possibly I brought it on vinted to make up to get the % off but it's totally not what it would buy.

Biscuits4 · 27/02/2026 10:17

Yes, I've lost some summer trousers (last seen hanging over edge of bed), t-shirt (last had on holiday, but am sure I didn't leave it there as we thoroughly check before leaving) and blue knitted jumper (again sure I didn't leave it anywhere as only wear it when it's really cold and I'd notice if it wasn't on outside).

Whenever my partner hangs out laundry we somehow lose clothes! One time we lived in a house that had a garden backing onto a river in a tourist destination - one day we lost all our towels! He said the cheeky people who sometimes used to kayak to our garden and have a picnic must have stolen the towels. A few days later I caught him hanging out more towels without using pegs! It was very windy the day they all disappeared so I think a chaotic partner skipping the pegs is more likely than people kayaking up the river to steal our old towels. I am missing tons of socks as is my daughter since he did the laundry a few weeks ago - a bit of a trend. He says pegging socks is a faff so just drapes them around the edge of a laundry basket and leaves them outside. My mum reckons it’s deliberate so I won’t ask him to do it - I reckon he’s just a moron who likes to skip corners.

Oh my 4 year old has inherited his chaos energy too - if you leave coats or jumpers out they will be taken as a potential wall for a castle she is building. I am missing a belt all week and I am sure I will find it wrapped around a bear or holding something together. She claims daddy has hidden it, which makes me pretty certain she has it lol. They both like to blame external forces beyond their control - for my 4 year old this is always daddy lol.
