Awake with UTI pain... Company?

Been awake most of the night with the unmistakable pain of a UTI and feeling utterly miserable.
On antibiotics but only started them a few hours ago... Hoping they kick in soon!
Flicking through TV trying to find something either interesting to watch to help take my mind off it, or completely dull enough to send me to sleep.
Debating work today (although I know I probably shouldn't) as a self employed domestic cleaner, and the fact I called off my client last week because of a migraine. I'm terrible for trying to push through work when I probably shouldn't.
Anyone awake to keep me company

Hello, I’m awake with pains in my legs. I don’t really know what it is, the GP just gives me painkillers. I did some gardening yesterday, which has set the pain off again.

I hope you soon feel better.

Hope the ABs kick in soon, and you can get to work. I don't find a bad night's sleep too detrimental to my next day. Just try and rest. Try and think of something nice. I'm alternating between MN, stressing about work and thinking about stranger things tv show I'm rewatching with dc2. It is not relaxing thinking about that!

Would a hot water bottle help?

ZenNudist · 26/02/2026 04:00

@Indiannadreaming I hope your leg pain goes soon too!

Awake too - in hospital following op to take out my appendix. Sore and can’t get comfortable. Hope your ABs start kicking in soon

I have an electric blanket across the lower part of my bed. It’s on low but the gentle heat definitely helps.

HelpMebeok · 26/02/2026 04:04

I'm awake as I'm a foster carer and the baby I look after is awake.
my dd get terrible urine infections. Hope you feel better soon.

ZenNudist · 26/02/2026 04:08

I'm awake because I'm constipated! TMI! Hopefully I won't be stuck here too long. It's quite a painful situation but sounds like all of you have it much worse!

Purplesparklyhippopotamuses · 26/02/2026 04:09

Thank you everyone, and I hope everyone that is feeling rubbish feels better soon!

If anything the pain is getting more intense. I remember from having them before the pain ramps up for a few hours before subsiding so I'm definitely in the midst of it I think... Lost count of how many times I've attempted to wee! Chugging on water and alternating between paracetamol and ibuprofen, they're just not quite taking it away enough for me to get to sleep. Also have heat packs and hot water bottles on rotation, not sure what else to try.

Sending hugs and sympathy to those in pain. Very sorry to hear of the suffering.

OP, no other real advice apart from drinking all the water. Don't go into work today, your client will understand if you explain - you're not well!

Purplesparklyhippopotamuses · 26/02/2026 04:14

@HelpMebeokaww, I do miss being up with my babies in the night, it always felt like proper quality time when things were slower and we didn't have the hecticness of the day ❤️

@ZenNudist oh no, that sounds awful for you. I d hope you're feeling better soon!

@MeAndMyGhostthank you, I mean at least I would have had my daily quota of water before the rest of the house wakes up so silver lining and all that.
Oh, I'm sure she'll understand - it's a lovely client which is why I feel worse for letting her down. I'm terrible for pushing through when I shouldn't but having been awake since 1.30 I'm not sure how productive I'll actually be, especially with the added pain factor.

I'm still awake since 2. Hopefully everyone now sleeping!

Purplesparklyhippopotamuses · 26/02/2026 06:56

Oh no @ZenNudist I hope you're doing ok! I managed about 20 minutes at around 6 before chaos descended and the kids woke up. Messaged my clients and rearranged today, cosy day on the sofa! I hope you can have a bit of a restful day too

I'm in the office probably had 3.5 hours broken sleep. A day on the sofa should hopefully see yoh better.
