Help with diet/weight loss

As my username suggests, I suffer with my MH and am currently taking Mirtazapine (and Citalopram and Propranolol 🫠). It is definitely helping but one of the side effects is that it makes me hungry - it’s used as an appetite stimulant in cats! I’ve realized I’m overeating and have put the brakes on and am exercising more but I would like to lose some weight. I’m 5’8 and around 70kg, I would like to get back down to around 63kg. Over the past 3/4 weeks I have started strength training 3 times per week, couch to 5k and a hot yoga class once a week. Usually always walk 10k+ steps. I know I need to eat in a calorie deficit which is fine but my issue is I don’t really know what to eat. I never had to think about my weight before. I have serious problems around fruit and veg which date way back to early childhood so adding veg or snacking on fruit is out. I basically gag or throw up when I eat them so I usually make a smoothie once a day and hold my nose to drink it. I still gag but it’s much easier for me. It’s something I want to tackle one day but now isn’t the right time.

I need simple suggestions, mainly for lunch and a late afternoon snack as that’s what I struggle most with. Breakfast is fine, I like eggs, porridge, weetabix etc and dinners are easy enough - salmon, chicken, steak, bolognese or similar. At the moment I just usually have a couple of rolls and ham and cheese and a protein yoghurt for lunch but I’m out for 10.5 hours a day for work and it’s a long time between lunch and dinner so I end up starving. Any help would be appreciated!

So you don’t ever eat ANY fruit or veg? I think I’d be trying to tackle that - could you have hypnosis or something? Apart from being a great way to fill up when on a weight loss journey they contain a lot of vitamins and antioxidants and fibre.

How about using protein rolls or wraps for your lunch, with a couple of boiled eggs alongside. Then the protein yogurt for an afternoon snack.

It’s hard, well done for starting.

My DS has a phobia about fruit and veg and he got over it with the help of Felix Economides. I highly recommend you see him.

I think it’s hard to lose weight without eating a lot
of veg!

I eat 0% fat Fage yogurt with a small amount of nuts and some honey as my mid afternoon snack. I find eating a lot of protein (mainly from chicken or eggs) helps keep me feeling full. Mini baby bells are also an easy snack option too
