Tooth advice please!

Hi all, I broke a lower molar last week - it had an old metal filling in it and a corner of the tooth broke off by the filling. I had it mended on Friday - the dentist drilled out the old filling, replaced it with composite (I assume) and built the missing chunk of tooth back up with the same.
It ached a bit that evening, but now it's started aching again - not all the time, but if it's not aching then I'm just kind of aware of it the whole time.
Is that normal? I don't want to go back to the dentist if it's not necessary but equally I don't want to leave it if it needs seeing to. The dentist said there was no decay in my teeth.
Thanks!

It takes about two weeks or so for the random aching pain to go whenever I've had fillings done. If it's still sore after that then it's time to go back and see if there is anything that needs adjusting.

Thanks, that's really helpful to know. It'll be a week tomorrow since I had it repaired, so hopefully it'll settle down soon!
