Ganglion cyst on to of foot? What should I be asking for?

It's causing a lot of pain and disrupting sleep, although I understand they are considered harmless.

I put an e-consult thing into GP asking for advice, and have been given an out of hours appointment. No, I dont know why either.

So, what should I expect them to do? What are treatment options? Who do I want referring to?

Also, if the answer is give it time, and I wanted to arrange a private consultation to consider other options, who would that be with? Podiatrist, or someone else?

My Mum had one and they drained it (with a needle and syringe), this was a few years ago so not sure if the treatment is still the same. Does your GP do minor surgery ? If so that is maybe why you have an OOH appt.

I had mine drained a couple of times (please film for Sporners if you have this done). Eventually I had it removed when I had my bunions fixed. In the olden days you would get the big family bible and give it a whack. Do not do this.

I keep hearing this....I have been tempted!

What does removal involve?

How soon after draining did you have improvement in the pain? But it comes back?
