Thank god there is sunshine here to lighten my mood.

Roll on next year!

No skiing depression is real-er! Tried it once, I was crap but want to go again. Other half adamant he is ok having ticked that box 😭

massistar · 25/02/2026 10:13

Yes, it is real. Dreaming of a sneaky long weekend and I’m only back a week!

springyla · 25/02/2026 10:50

I went three weeks ago, fell over and tore a ligament in my knee and was on crutches. I’m still pining for it and wondering if I’ll be fit enough for a sneaky Easter trip. Next winter feel SO far away.

FadedRed · 25/02/2026 11:06

Definitely agree with you all. Watching the Winter Olympics helped a bit with the post holiday downer, but that’s only every 4th year.

AfternoonTeaAddict · 25/02/2026 11:07

never skiid but for me post-holidays blues is very very real and debilitating.

forno · 25/02/2026 13:28

I’ve booked again for next year but it’s apparently 347 days away according to the app. 😭

I didn’t think I was going to get skiing at all this year and it was torture being bombarded with skiing videos on social media. Thankfully we’ve managed to get spending arranged in March. Can’t wait!

Ooh where are you going?

I’m actually being such a sulky brat that I’m viewing my other holidays this year as Not Good Enough and actually getting in the way of skiing again 😂

As you mumsnetters are much more ski-experienced than me (sob) - can you give me any recommendations for out of school holidays Italian destinations? X

GasPanic · 25/02/2026 13:50

As I approached the end of my skiing days and saw the carnage it can cause with accidents at the end of a ski week I was just glad that I had escaped without some sort of horrible damage.

That's when you probably know it's time to give up.

minipie · 25/02/2026 13:50

Ha, our half term trip was a bit frustrating (too much snow! lots of closed lifts. and horrible wind) so I haven’t got the post ski blues this time. Sunshine here helps a lot!

We had a week of terrible weather, closures, too much snow etc etc. I feel like it’s unfinished business!

We had a fabulous week in the Italian Dolomites. No closures and shed loads to f snow. Plus pizza, pasta, Aperol spritz etc etc.. sigh. Take me back !

Hfiajfbdoflv · 25/02/2026 15:12

We just had the absolute best week at a Kinder Hotel in Austria. It was wonderful. As a very pale person I much prefer ski holidays to sun holidays.

Sestriere. Wouldn’t have been our first choice, not much left by the time we finally booked but have been thinking about trying Italy for a change for a while so quite happy. Just hope the snow/avalanche situation calms down!

IcantFeelMyFaceNow · 25/02/2026 16:06

I can no longer ski. I have too much metal in my spine to risk it but I miss it so much. The most fun you can have with your clothes on!

Same. Not one lunch on a sunny terrace. Gah.
fingers crossed for Easter 😜

minipie · 25/02/2026 16:57

Where are you going at Easter @domenica1 ? We are also going again at Easter… Made half term more bearable!

mrssquidink · 25/02/2026 17:04

I hear you! Was away last week and now torturing myself by looking at the resort webcams. No chance for a sneaky Easter break as DD has A levels.

On the plus side, this is our last season of having to go away in school holidays. Already mentally planning something for next January…

@minipie Zermatt, first time!
