Kids/Teens mucking about in shops

This is one of 10,000 things I don’t miss from leaving retail- teens coming into the shop and making random stupid noises, break products deliberately and swear to everyone.

Yesterday, I went into a supermarket on the way home from work. Teens - in a group of 6 of them went to the eggs section and got a box of 6 and dropped an egg each, laughing after each egg. Security guard escorted them out of the store.

About a few minutes later as I paid for the few bits and leaving the store, the same teens (all male) came in. Making random noises.

Acting like this isn’t big or clever. It’s the opposite. I didn’t dare do anything like this when I was their age.

Im saying now that someone will say bring back youth clubs. Youth clubs were crap when I was their age - 30 years ago. There was just a pool table, table football and nothing else. I also went to each other’s homes to watch tv, play games, hang out.

It’s parenting. It’s not about keeping busy. I knew that sort of behaviour would absolutely not be tolerated. I was at home walking the dog, doing my homework, reading a book in the 90s, not causing mayhem.

In our town, there was a group of teens (some very young looking) going around every night kicking people’s doors in at 5am over half term. Where are their parents? My same age dc was home in bed watching tv, not even allowed on her phone after 9pm, let alone out roaming about from 2-5am every night.

The other week a similar group caught on cctv ripping all the flowers and plants out of beds in the park at midnight.

My dc was telling me yesterday that a friend’s boyfriend (‘boyfriend’ they’re 13 🙄) has been excluded for the rest of the year for swearing at teachers and generally being a jerk consistently. She was like, if I got excluded I know you would kill me! (Not literally, I am not abusive 😂). But mine know that I take absolutely no shit and there is no excuse for poor behaviour.

Where are these kids’ parents? If mine did that, I’d be marching them right back in there and they’d be mopping the floors the rest of the day.
