3 scam/fraud but I don’t understand it

I know my scams, I watch scam intercepters all the time 😀 but I don’t understand this one

i got a raft of emails this morning from 3 confirming my upgrade for pay as you go sim (only thing I have with them) to roaming data only for £7 less a month. I pay by DD.

i didn’t see any of the emails at the time, but a few hours later got a text from 3 asking me to rate their customer service following my contact with them. I phoned 3 and they are investigating it as a fraud case

all the mails are to my email address, my phone number and my address. I've had no pins or anything sent to me to me to confirm the change

any idea what the scam is? Is it the start of something? Should I be expecting 20 iPhones to appear at my address?

Someone created a new esim based on your number that they are using abroad for roaming?

Scammersafterme · 24/02/2026 20:28

That does sound plausible @CatherinedeBourgh as it only data and world data in the new plan but it’s def linked to my sim as I’ve had texts since to my phone confirming my ’new ‘ plan

theyve also put a £100 cap on my account…
