I have been referred to the breast clinic, the doctor I saw at the GP surgery thought it was probably a fibroid, however she wanted me to get it checked at the hospital, which is this weekend, can someone tell me what to expect (I have never been before) also I’m autistic so would rather have someone with me, is this allowed? Thank you

Have they told you what kind of test you will have? There are various - it could be a hand exam, mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy etc. Knowing what kind of test will help you understand what the experience will be like.

It will 100% be ok to take someone with you, I'm not sure if they would be allowed in the exam room during the test, it might depend on the test, but my mum often came with me to the hospital when I was having breast cancer treatment.

If in doubt, you should be able to ring the hospital and get some advice on these points.

Yes you can take someone with you.
the process at our local breast clinic is
first seen by a doctor to discuss issue and for a breast exam. If required you would then have a mammogram and if needed a biopsy.
breast clinics get a huge number of referrals and it’s normally under 10% turn out to be breast cancer. It’s best to get things checked out. Please try not to worry too much. Good luck with your appointment.

At our clinic the first appointment is mammogram only.
If you Google it they may have the process for your trust.
My second appointment i saw a consultant and had tests they requested.

Always fine to take someone with you.
