What to get DD for her 21st

DD is 21 in April and she already had her big present so I need some gifts to give her on the day.

I can't stand wasting money on tat that won't be used. What would you suggest? She likes yoga, swimming, reading, watching films, she loves clothes but I am not sure what to buy - a nice knitwear item jumper or cardie would be nice.... any great ideas?

Without knowing her style it’s hard to answer. Could you go for a nice shop together with lunch or dinner?

Retro12 · 24/02/2026 16:22

a yoga/gym set

I made photograph albums ( old style!) for each of mine including pictures of their grandparents and parents and various good photos from their childhood. I hope they will enjoy them when they are much older

Would you go shopping together and let her choose?

An Alo or Lululemon yoga set

I wouldn’t buy her clothing without her being there. Can you take her out for lunch/shopping and tell her to choose a jumper?

Mine had a lovely silver necklace for her 21st-I told her I wanted to buy her that and she investigated and chose one she liked.

A ring or bangle that has something personal engraved inside it eg her birth date or an in joke between you. Doesn’t need to be an expensive one.
my mother in law made hilarious photo books of her three children for their 21sts which were really thoughtful and also hilarious, one or two photos for every year of their life, we all enjoyed reading them.

If more money and she is into clothes, maybe an investment piece like a nice coat or leather jacket

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 24/02/2026 21:45

Thanks so much. I don't have an opportunity to go to the shops with her because my dad is very unwell. I will look at Alo and Lululemon. She also likes the Adanola knits. She got a massive haul for Xmas as DS has just started working and went a bit wild with presents 😂She got a coat and a hoodie from him and clothes and jewellery from us. She has everything she needs and and hates wasting money which somehow makes it more difficult but she is also is easily pleased so I just need to generate more ideas.
The photo one is great - DH is going to do a photo montage for her - thanks

If she has an Everyman cinema where she lives their annual membership is a great gift for film lovers. You get six tickets and 10% off food and drink, also bring a guest on Mondays I think.

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 24/02/2026 22:18

They're really far away, we have been a few times. She doesn't really like the cinema much, I might get her an Ivy Asia voucher - need to think as its v expensive!

Love the generation photo album idea by Thistooshallpsss!! OP, you can include old photos as suggested (the black and white ones could be repaired if necessary, there are online tools like this one to do that) and you can leave about 20-30 pages empty for further pictures, maybe even print some from her birthday and add in there as well.

Or, if you don't want to make an actual album, could be a birthday video with photos from her childhood up to her most recent ones and you can send a copy of it to her via Whatsapp or email so she could rewatch it any time.

Also here is another gift idea, are there any upcoming events or gigs she would like to attend? Her favourite singer's show or something like that? Tickets usually make great gifts!
