Can I tell you I'm finally going to have a grandchild ☺️

I'm almost 60.Our DS is gay and has no interest in children or babies.Our dd lives hundreds of miles away so we only see her about 3 times a year.
She has been with her fiance over a decade and got a house with him
.Ive yearned to be a nan as I love children.I grew up in a huge family with foster children.
I'm allowed to tell work as she wants it to be an Easter announcement to extended family.
Work didn't land so well as a colleague had a bereavement 5 weeks ago so I'm supposed to be subdued or something.
I'm excited for this new chapter.

My parents live abroad so we only see them 2 or 3 times a year. My DDs still adore them. We video call once a week, and it's mostly just the girls playing on the filters with my mum but it silly fun for an hour.

Congratulations! Don’t let the distance worry you, I live a long way from my parents and they have the most amazing bond with my kids who are now adults and still go up and stay with them lots

The occasions we meet up are more special tbh.
On an ideal world my dcs would live nearer and I really miss them.
I'm proud they are independent mentally and financially though.

I live in a diff country to my parents with my kids - and don’t to be the distance is an isssue tbh! my nearly 5 year old goes to stay a week on her own every summer and they bring her back to us then

my dad took her to Disneyland for the weekend all by himself a while back on the Eurostar had a blast

this summer it’s her first school hols and she’s going to stay 2 weeks this time with them :) she loves them so much

we dont see them so often but when we do its for longer chunks of time rather than just drop over for the day visits! We have holidays together and we go to stay as many school holidays as possible

we do video calls and even my 2 year old asks to ring nana.

I lived in another country (and language) away from my grandma and we were very very close. That was in the days of no video calling and we saw each other once a year or so. In fact she didn’t even have a phone for the first years!
