I'm on holiday; quite ill and BF...

Is being just lovely. I'm a bit shocked at how pleasantly surprised I am, that can't be a good reflection on my life to date!

It's ridiculous because it's not particularly warm, but I think I've had too much sun. Nausea, headache, aching limbs, runny tummy (sorry!) and don't know if I'm hot or cold.

We're here with friends and I've but a brave face on for most of the day, but by 5pm I really needed a lie down. I told BF to stay with friends but he insisted on walking back with me and has lay on the bed with me, periodically bringing paracetamol and water for the last 5 hours!

He's gone out to find food now. I don't want anything, but this is a man for whom food is very important. I really hope he finds something! (It's late here).

Tell him from us he’s a star. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Aw lovely

YelramBob · 23/02/2026 21:33

What a great guy, get well soon.

I read the title and thought you meant you were breastfeeding though 😅

firstofallimadelight · 23/02/2026 21:47

I remember reading something about the trick to knowing if you have a good man is how they treat you during difficult times. It sounds like he’s being lovely xx

limetrees32 · 23/02/2026 21:51

Another here wanting you to tell him how great he's being .
Feel better soon xx

Love reading these sort of posts ❤️

Not that you're poorly obviously, but that you've got yourself a decent partner

AmyDudley · 23/02/2026 22:04

I'm sorry you are feeling unwell and pleased he is looking after to you. But honestly 'great' and 'a star' for basic human decency ?, I would expect nothing less of any partner.

ShowOfHands · 23/02/2026 22:07

It's a sad indictment of the bar for men that keeping you company and meeting your basic needs when you're unwell means he merits a well done from the internet and to be lauded as a "star".

It is brilliant that this is different to your usual experiences but men being over-praised for normal, common decency is representative of a much bigger problem.

WallaceinAnderland · 23/02/2026 22:08

This is a normal way for a person to treat a partner. Glad that he's a normal bloke but really should not need praise and gratitude for not being a dick.

LondonLady1980 · 23/02/2026 22:20

Is this how low the bar is now?

A thread dedicated to a man, followed by women gushing over how super he is and what a star he is, simply because he brings his girlfriend some paracetamol when she’s ill?! 😳

Im sorry you’re ill - but seriously?!

Highstool · 24/02/2026 07:46

Well that was predicable, and I did say I was surprised at my own response.

In his shoes, I don't know if I'd have been so "good". I'd have made sure he was comfortable and had what he needed, but I might have gone to have dinner with our friends, rather than trying to find something close to midnight.
