Anyone else got a horrid virus currently?

DH and I have both been poorly for the past 6 days, we’ve never had anything like this before.

Husband - 1st day super tired, couldn’t stay awake, then 2nd/3rd day sore throat/cough, 4th day aches and temperature. By the end of the 4th day he thought he was getting over it but it’s hit him again, and last night and today he’s feeling worse.

Me - I’ve had constant sore throat and awful cough for 6 days and random temperature spikes and on day 4 felt quite achy. I’ve lost my sense of taste too.

Whatever it is seems to come in waves, we can feel brighter for a short while then boom temp spikes and feeling really rotten again.

Anyone else?

Pretty sure it’s covid. I had it last month. Exactly like you describe it.

I had this two weeks ago, exactly as you described. I did a covid test which was negative (but the test kit was very out of date!) I'm fine now but my friend who had it several days after me is still struggling

I've had/have this - started around Christmas time, got a bit better, then came back worse with horrendous coughing, much worse than the first time. I feel mostly ok now but with some of your symptoms like the headaches, sore throat and loss of taste. But still some coughing.

It's really strange how it keeps lingering. Thought it might be covid but a relative had similar and diagnosed as influenza A.

Not this but a nasty cold.

Me and partner have had this. I just thought it was flu. For me I define flu as struggling to crawl to the bathroom, and not even being able to watch tv/go on computer. Ive only had flu a few times in my life, and this was definately it I think.

Fever, cough, snots, aches like you wouldn't believe. Ive been super rough for 5 days, started to recover, but now day 8 im left with just horrid ear pain and crackles - like im under water, and my ears keep popping. I keep moving my jaw to loosen it and it just keeps cracking. Im really dizzy whenever I get up too. Its really shit. Chat just tells me its normal after a virus so i will muddle through.

Partner has had similar experience.

I am just getting over this, mine only lasted a few days but it was horrid!

I’ve had something similar - the worst of it was 3 weeks ago but I still get random bouts of awful coughing,
my chest feels tight and am so tired. It’s miserable whatever it is!

Yep, I'd had it for three weeks, couldn't shift it, had antibioticsfor a chest infection, felt a bit better but washed out then it's come back again.
Took a negative covid test.

Yep, throat, nose, now turning into a cough - rubbish 😷

Feel absolutely rotten right now, but I think it is probably sinusitis. All round my eyes, cheeks and all my top teeth. It really hurts and I've used up two boxes of tissues today. Endless snot. Horrible.

Yep. Awful feverish cold type thing since Saturday, uncontrollable coughing and sneezing, aches and pains.
I was ill for the first three weeks of January with what I think was Covid, just got rid of it in time for my birthday last week then this thing hit me. Fed up with it now!

Oh we’ve got all this.

I have in-date Covid tests so I’ll do one in the morning. Can’t do one now because I’ve just shoved emollient up my nostrils.

Im fluey with a hacking cough, crackly chest and shocking aches.

Its going on forever.

May get a covid test tome, more out of curiosity than anything else

Had it for three weeks, managed to get on our much-longed for and very expensive holiday but could only do about 1/3 of what we planned :(

It's still lingering, don't fee ~well~ and still coughing, though it's better than it was.

Miserable.

I had a bad cold 2 weekends ago, was in bed for most of it, felt awful sore throat headache etc snotty. Then lost the voice so was off work - am a nurse so need to speak (and not spread my germs to little babies) back yesterday voice back but today coughing voice sore really tired etc
Fun times, can’t afford to be off again urgh hope everyone else feels better soon!

Thanks everyone, sounds like a lot of you have had / got very similar symptoms.

Overnight DH and I both had the shakes and temp, honestly thought we’d be over the worst of it by now!

Had this too, it was awful. Could barely move. I had to take a day off work - they are very strict or would have taken more and then had a back to work meeting. Now got the other type of virus (I will spare you the details) and have taken another day off so have to speak to HR on my return to work. I'm a magnet for illness but awful having to justify a simple thing like being sick!
