Getting the itch to move

Been in our 3 bed semi detached new build 5 years. We've just spent a fortune doing it up, extension, new kitchen etc and really making it our own. Recently got engaged and getting married in 2028 abroad and plan to have children as soon as we are married. However, I've all of a sudden got the urge to move, I feel like I want to be in my forever home before I have children. However, cost of houses right now are extortionate. We are luckily mortgage free at a very young age due to inheritance but there is absolutely nothing on the market right now. I know it's probably the worst time to look but our house was valued at 450k and to look for something bigger and better we are looking at 700/750k plus needing to renovate it which is insane! I don't know how we will afford putting all our money into a house and as well as having a 300k mortgage and not even having any money to do it up - we do have 100k in savings but that's a rainy day fund in case we ever need a new car and going towards our wedding.

How do other people do it? I'm baffled!

Lots of people would love a 3 bed semi with an extension. No mortgage too. If you intend to have children, why not save as much as you can for the next few years, especially as your wedding will probably be costly and you might want a decent length of maternity leave.

3 beds will give you space for a couple of children, then you could consider it later on. I imagine it will mean a mortgage too.

I had to sell my penthouse in Monaco last year, broke my heart. Bought another yacht though so not all gloom and doom.
