It's been a long, cold, dark winter but looks like spring is finally on the way.

The sun is out in my neck of the woods, finally,it’s been a very wet/dark 4 months.

Winteriscoming80 · 23/02/2026 12:03

I’m in South Yorkshire by the way.

Sunny here in Somerset, the magnolia is just about to burst into flower and I have washing on my line. Hopefully spring is at the gate with her finger on the latch.

I had a glass of wine in the garden yesterday. It was glorious. I wore my jumper but my face was warm. Far south UK.

I looked at sunbeds on Argos this morning. The one I wanted is sold out!
Waaah! I want a sunbed for my new garden because the bloody sun's out at last and it's actually a little bit warm, too! Couple of times recently the sun's been out but it's been perishingly cold out there! Tantrum over.
Yes, spring's arriving. Isn't it lovely! ⚘️🌱
Edited to add - Bristol.

I also saw geese flying north the other day. Made me stop in my tracks to work out which way they were flying.

Mochudubh · 23/02/2026 12:51

North-east Scotland here. It's lovely to feel some warmth in the sun after not seeing a blink for so long.

The insects finally appeared in my garden yesterday, basking in the sunshine.

SMM2020 · 23/02/2026 12:54

In the south east and it’s meant to be 16 degrees and sunny on Wednesday - I’m so excited!

PullTheBricksDown · 23/02/2026 12:57

The sun has come out for a reasonable amount of time two days running here. 🤞🤞🤞 this is the beginning of the end of winter because it's been such a downer all the way through January and February and we could all do with the lift. Go geese!

Moen · 23/02/2026 12:59

We have horses. Nobody is happier that spring is in sight than me 😂

To feel the sun on my face yesterday was glorious!

Hi @Mochudubh , also in NE Scotland. Such a beautiful day, even the dog is in a better mood ☀️

sandrapinchedmysandwich · 23/02/2026 13:05

I saw them too, maybe about an hour ago. I am also South Yorkshire so maybe they were the same ones 😊

loislovesstewie · 23/02/2026 13:10

Excellent! I'm in East Yorkshire, I'll be keeping an eye out for geese.

Lostearrings · 23/02/2026 13:25

I opened the blinds when I came down this morning and it was properly daylight and sunny. I have not seen this for months!

Mossstitch · 23/02/2026 18:03

I don't know much about geese but guess there are different types as i have permanent ones at the back of me. They are very noisy at the moment which usually means spring is coming🐣🥳
