Need to take my nieces out tomorrow (Monday 23rd) somewhere in the uk within about 1.5 hours of Oxford - can anyone help?

Ideally something that a 5 and 8 year old would like?

(it being a Monday in February a lot of stuff is closed annoyingly!)

any suggestions appreciated x

Pitt Rivers (if it's open). Best museum in the world 😁

I've checked for you - yes it is open.

Over the border into Warwickshire - but Stratford upon Avon?

Crocodiles of the World and Cotswold wildlife park are both good

We took our 4.5 and 8.5 year old to Oxford Naural History museum in school hols. It is a great size - not too big so harder to losr them. There is an area for crafts/colouring. There are activity sheets to find items of interest in the museum. We took the park and ride so they had a bus ride too.

Oxford Natural History Museum and Pitt Rivers are fab.
Also the Ashmolean (especially the Ancient Egyptian part)

In Oxford, the Natural History Museum & Pitt Rivers (they’re in the same building), Oxford Castle & Prison or the Story Museum (great fun but not history themed I don’t think).
Warwick Castle. Blenheim Palace. Steam Railway Museum in Swindon.

Cotswold wildlife park are asking anyone without pre booked tickets to hold off visiting because of a waterlogged car park (not sure whether they mean people who’ve already booked, or if they’re asking people not to turn up on spec)

The Oxford University museums are all free (Natural History, Pitt Rivers, History of Science, and the Ashmolean) and all have friendly staff, and activity trails and things for primary age kids. The Natural History museum is particularly good for younger kids - lots of touchable display items.

If you want a day out somewhere a bit different Cogges Manor Farm near Witney is lovely, and Witney itself is a nice place to go for lunch or shopping. Avebury's driveable from Oxford in about an hour too - plenty of space to run around and explore the stone circle but there's the museum and visitor centre available too.
