36 - Think I’m Peri, could do with some advise!

I’ve been having hormone dips and rises causing me to be full of energy and then really tired and down - not depressed. The last week or so I’ve been hyper aroused - lots more sex with DH, even stronger orgasms. I’ve also started getting anxiety randomly, not too badly but noticeable. I haven’t had any anxiety since starting stimulant medication for adhd a few years ago.
I am assuming this is me going into peri. I already lift weights regularly, eat healthily and try to do all the things needed for long term health.
My question is when do I start HRT? I don’t want to start too early, but I also don’t want to leave it too late and suffer unnecessarily. I’m also worried about rapid physical aging.
Could anyone share their experience with me please?

Could also be pmdd

Ffs

Would it be pmdd if this is new? And why ‘ffs’ @tessiegirl? My mum, Nan and aunt all went through menopause in their 40s

What are your periods like? My cycle got shorter, a bit irregular but not always, heavier, longer, mid month cramps and awful PMT.

I’ve always been clockwork with the same length cycles, and never on hormone contraception. My cycles in the last 7 months has varied from 21-31 days. My periods have been longer and shorter, my last period started then stopped, then started and stopped again over 7 days.

I am waiting till I really have to. I don’t have the best record for side effects with anything. So to me it will be a last resort. I think you will know when it is time, if that makes sense.

my doctors has a menopause nurse and that is all she does. I have seen her once where we talked about me staying on the pill. CHeck with your doctors to see if they have one. Being on the pill has had some good and some bad. But I’m staying on it for now.

Tip that I have found works for me. I have started to take a sage tablet everyday. And my hot flushes and mood swings have calmed massively.

Could well be. But I would say don’t bother going to your GP. Mine wouldn’t help me at 43!
If you can afford it, see a private menopause specialist. Total game changer for me.

I'm 48 and got HRT no problem but that could be cos I'm older. I was probably having peri menopause symptoms for about 4/5 years but really ramped up in last 18 months or so. I held off until I'd had enough of feeling like shit. Only been on it 2.5 weeks so too early to tell but got everything crossed that I'll feel better. All you can do is go for a chat and see what they say.
