son is soon to be 8, currently reading a few chapters of roald Dahl every night, personally not a massive fan but it’s what we have at hand. Can anyone recommend another collection/series that is easy to follow for that age group.

The wild robot x 3
The boy who grew dragons

are two series we’ve enjoyed

The Hobbit, Harry Potter, some of Jaqueline Wilson’s books for younger readers maybe, you could look at children’s classics such as the CS Lewis collection. My son at that age loved non fiction books more than fiction surprisingly, such as the solar system, electricity, how things work etc

CS Lewis, Percival something, Dog man.

As a read aloud or for him to read himself?

The how to train your dragon series by Cressida Cowell is brilliant and is different to the film and tv series (both good, but means you are getting new stories). It also builds over the 12 books rather than just having similar stories.

my nearly 8 year old is currently really enjoying me reading the Clarice Bean books (the chapter ones rather than the picture books).

Adventures on trains series
Skandar series

As read aloud. He reads me a couple of pages/chapters, then I read a couple.
