Apart from probably losing a bit of flavour, it will be fine won't it? I don't want to poison myself this weekend, I've an important meeting on Monday!

Of course it will be fine. Tea doesn’t go off.

hmm
i could but i think i would nip to the shop

TheAutumnCrow · 21/02/2026 07:39

I’m quite adventurous with Best Before dates, especially when trapped inside by storms, but I might draw the line at one that was over a decade ago, if a shop were open and I had funds to replenish.

cariadlet · 21/02/2026 07:39

I'd try it but expect it to be flavourless.

If there's anything wrong with it (more likely in a humid climate than in the UK) then you'll taste it after a sip and can throw it away.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 21/02/2026 07:44

Try it if it tastes ok drink it.

Changingplace · 21/02/2026 07:46

I’d give one cup a taste, I don’t think it’d made you ill it’ll just taste of nothing.

somanychristmaslights · 21/02/2026 08:07

Just go and buy a new box?? After 11 years, it’s probably not going to taste great anyway!

carefullythere · 21/02/2026 08:09

I don't drink tea but my brother does and insists on PG Tips and was always complaining because I bought supermarket own brand tea. Sick of him moaning, I put my Asda tea in a PG Tips box to prove to us both that he couldn't tell the difference. He took one sip, declared it disgusting, and when I revealed what I'd done it also emerged the tea was three years out of date. So on that basis, I don't think it'll taste great!

How strange, an article about out of date teq popped up on something I was reading yesterday, I didn't click on it otherwise I'd have been able to answer for you

Amazing coincidence on such a random question😁

Has there been some publicity about this, you might be able to find the article if it's a decent concern

ETA out of interest I googled and it seems in wrong, it's not a random question, there are pages and pages of answers 😂

gototogo · 21/02/2026 08:21

I’m drinking tea that’s bb 2021 currently, it’s fine, it’s the last of a huge batch we were regularly gifted via his work, didn’t drink it in order either

Mumofteentwins · 21/02/2026 08:32

I misread this as you having tea with an old date from 2015 🤦🏻‍♀️

nah I wouldn’t OP and I’ve got quite a lot of old herbal tea in the cupboard, maybe a couple of years out of date but I wouldn’t drink any older.

saltandvinegarpringles · 21/02/2026 08:36

I wouldn’t - it would taste awful, for starters!

I'd laugh at him if he thought PG Tips was the gold standard for tea.
