I do disagree with this. My blood related uncles wives, and blood related aunties husbands, are as much aunties and uncles to me as the ones I am blood related to. They are all family. Same with the husbands and wives of my cousins, I class them as family too. (And all their DC.)

Also my DH's brother and his wife and DC. They are family too. DH's brother's wife had a daughter before he met her (and another daughter when that daughter was 10.) I class both girls as nieces. So does DH.

Ditto my brother's wife, I am not blood related to her, but class her as family, and also their 2 boys. (they are my nephews.) DH classes them as his nephews too. They are all family.
